Here's what you can do or think about it, since your still young and trying NOT to be dumb, while your driving record is getting cleaned(2 or 3 yrs), go find a job like Coca Cola, Pepsi etc, as stocking in the supermarket, stores, or warehouse. After some time when they need drivers, they will post and offer free training for there employees to get there CDL, and since you are already working there, I'm sure they might look the other way on some of your violations. Now I said free training BUT they will own you for about 1 1/2 years. This is how my oldest son starting driving, through Coca Cola. After he stuck around at Coke and did his time, he went to U.S. Foods and is making good money. He is proud to be a Teamster.

My mom pulled my driving record it doesn't show the speed but it does show the tickets speeding 12/27/14, 01/08/2015, and 07/14/15; following to close 08/20/14. So Id be at 3 within past 3 years.
My expectations weren't high a new I probably wouldn't be able to get on with a really good company, but would it be worth it to do 6 months to a year to get experience and so I could make it to the 3 year mark for my most recent ticket, and then switch to a better company.
I was able to pull up why yall think western express is bad but what about cr England and Carolina cargo(never heard of them). I didn't expect to be home much since I'd just be starting out, which is okay. With pay as long as I can make 500 before taxes I'll be fine since Thats what I make now.
Is there any second chance flatbed companies yall can recommend. I really Dont think western express would be a good idea. I Dont want to pick up any bad habits or have to deal with a bad trainer since it seems from what I've read you just need 3 months experience with them to be one.
Diesel Dave before I started where I was at now was trying to get a warehouse job. Applied at 7up and Coca-cola and a couple other places kind of like that thinking that way didn't get hired at any of them and most where trying to pay less $10 a hour when I can start at 12.50 pretty much anywhere answering phones in the Ac but dealing with old people that usually don't like to listen. At 9.50 like most them want to pay I would have to work at least 48 hours to make the same. Doing more work for less pay would put me in a real bind for that time period -
Most companies want 3 years on the moving violations, the weed charge will hurt your chances some also. Try Carolina Cargo and Western are your best bets, and search Craigslist for some low class places and stay until you get some experience and your charges grow older. Still apply and apply, a good work history will go a long way and make most companies consider you. I have misdemeanors, but no drugs and Henderson trucking and Celadon approved me, but I don't have any moving violations just theft charges, trucking companies hate theft charges just as much as drugs though.
So when applying, your work history should look immaculate, keep your moving violation responses smart, and explain the misdemeanors and maybe some lower quality trucking company may take a chance on you, but most likely you'll need to pay for your CDL out of pocket and wait until most of your moving violations are 3 years old. Good luck, if you do get approved. Learn how to drive legally, I have family that share these roads with you!djmurria Thanks this. -
Ok thanks. The weed charge Im pretty sure shouldn't pop up. If it does I can explain the situation(wish I could show the dash cam video). I was helping my mom and sister move. My sister stuck some of her stuff in my car and didn't tell me she had bud in her jewelry box. I got pulled over they searched my car and find the jewelry box. You can clearly tell its not mine(has my sisters name literally on the side of it) and I had stopped smoking months prior to it happening but still got charged since it was in my car and she wasnt.
Paying for cdl school out of pocket isn't a problem, my mom said i cam use her hazelwood act or gi bill or something to help and she'll help with what I can't come up with.
Already learned to drive legally just had to stop wanting to go WFO when I see an open road.Last edited: Dec 11, 2016
