@Retired Ranger Something else to consider would be the general work schedule of both companies. I'm unfamiliar with tank work, but freight generally has less than desirable work hours (nights, weekends, etc). P@D on the freight side typically works daylight, but you'll bust your arse all day long making multiple stops. The tanker job could offer something better, I don't know. Check out both complete packages and decide from there. Good luck!

Yea, I Ann leaning toward foodliner. I went to the terminal and got a good feel. I am with a company called Montgomery Air Freight out of Huntsville al right now and they are not what I expected or what I was told when hired. Not a good company

I was just asking a question and you got defensive so we'll go that way.

1 this is not your thread This Thread belongs to everybody on this site you are the original poster.

There is no such thing as a medical retirement you were medically discharged.

I am a army veteran and you said you were there for 10 years you should know better.

There are a lot of veterans on this site and you're the first one that said that they were medically retired think about it

Everybody can go Google army discharges retirements and see exactly what I'm talking about me your

Are you willing to show me your DD214
if you was really a ranger remember that tat on your shoulder be true to it

That's why I say retired. No disrespect to you. Yes I was a ranger. Went in with primary MOS as 88M10 and then decided to go through ranger school after about 5 years in. It will always be in my blood. My dream was to retire after 20 but God had different plans. I apologize for getting defensive. People these days try to cause issues with veterans so I apologize

Holland used to be an excellent company, but has changed for the worse over the years.
I'd pick Foodliner if it were me.
I was pulling tankers out of Nashville, but not Foodliner. We had two drivers that served 10 yrs. Army and were both drawing pensions. One had chemical burns and I don't know the reason for the other one. The one that had chemical burns had a retired ID card, gray or blue in color, and had base priviledges at Ft. Campbell.

Holland usually pays ot after 8 hours in a day (depending on work rules) heard those guys get loooong hours. As low man on the seniority board you may get laid off. Also union folks usually have funky attitudes

Foodliner isn't terrible some terminals have a 1000 a week gross minimum. Also they may try and push you to sleep in the truck

I will be remiss if I did not take a moment and thank you both for your services. (And anyone else who have not spoken up as of yet..)

There are ways to be in trucking and be involved with the Military still. One of you said that it's in the blood. I think that there should be a way to keep that sharp and never lose touch if trucking is what you choose to get into. Give tanking a thought. Flatbedding too. Vans require physical labor that I think might impinge on your physical limitations as would some reefer loads too.

If there is a will and determination here and I think so, there will be a way. But it has to work out right and not let yourself be in a position to be abused.
