You may not know about Primes training. Can you speak to them? Are you throwing support towards them because they have a 4mo. program. It has been stated by drivers that have driven with them that the trainee time is excessive. Their CDL training and their training are using drivers for cheap team members based on my assesment. CDL trianee's, they'll train them and keep them out on the road. 60-80k is way to much time in a so called training program at their rate.
I've been looking at, reading about, and talking to Prime and Prime drivers for over 4 mos. I'm saying somethings fishy. I'm not arguing about training or the amount someone needs.
Training is not a bad thing! Abuse and rip-offs is my concern. I expect they get as much for the 6,000 miles a week driven by 2 drivers regardless if the 2nd driver is a trainee or an experience driver. If the trainee drives 3,000 miles he's doing almost half the work. They need to get compensated a proper amount, not ripe a guy and called it trainee. Everyone at Prime will probably support what the do because they all benitfit. When the new guy becomes a trainer he will keep his mouth shut because he benifits.
Are you saying SNI drivers aren't trained I've talk with a few and have read there stuff here. It doesn't seem like they are under trained to me. I detect nothing fishy with the info I have gotten from them.
I don't think were in any kinda contest. I'm searching for info, and throwing out what I've learned.![]()

I am glad you saw that post in the manner it was written.
I have said I did NOT train at Prime. However, I have gone through a training programs that carriers offer. I went to a "school" to get my CDL and then to the carrier to train. Similiar to SNI. VERY similiar.
Do I as a driver think that carriers are putting undertrained drivers out there? YES..NO doubt in my mind..None.
Is it a fair wage that Prime is offering the trainees? I really do not know. I know the need to make money..I know they are making the same off the load no matter what. However, I also know you have someone in the truck with you who hopefully can guide you through the binds you get into. Someone who actually wants to teach someone. I know that person deserves to be paid for what they do. Have you heard of the trainers that have died while the trainees are driving?
You see, no matter how it is thought of you have a HUGE responsibility when you get behind the wheel of the truck. One little mess up and you can hurt and kill people. Or how about one of their little mess ups and YOU don't know how to handle that situation. So yes, again I will say I do believe the carriers are undertraining.
Again, just my opinion. I am looking at Prime. I have gone through MANY boards and have read what is out there. I believe I know the fishy you are talking about. What I will ask you though is can you look at Prime without looking at what the fishy part is. You see, I believe, at least right now, that a few drivers are skewing it. As seen as I saw the pattern I started to disqualify what they said. I will NOT disqualify all of them though. -
I didn't understand the last 3 sentences. I don't know how I could look at Prime and over the fishy stuff. There part-and-parcel to the same thing. Prime would be considered fishy.
There are about 4 that support each other and attack anyone who asks questions or say things they don't care for. The companies never wrong, there's nothing wrong with the truck, and your really need to go to Acer 2. This is the mentality. You can't work for a company that says were here to help you then they blame you or don't support you. When I hear a guy has problems I expect there will be help. I don't expect the driver to be blamed.
Disqualify the one's that are blaming the driver's most of the time.
I believe I've written all I can on this subject. You might want to read it over and give it a chance to sink in. If you have questions maybe I'll be able to answer them. If you think I can add something or elaborate I'll try.Last edited: Sep 14, 2008

Let me try to explain the last of my post. The "fishy" stuff I have seen has come from a few. When I begin to get the impression that the driver has an agenda that persons opinion is given very little thought by me. That goes for the ones spouting good and the ones spouting bad. That does include the 4 or so that you have refrenced. I really feel like 1 has an agenda so their posts are not even considered.
I have not seen where they do not support the driver. However, I have seen some try to blame them. In those cases I read it and looked at the scenario as described and went from there.
I am NOT pro Prime..My discussions with you are more about training. The carrier you choose is not a concern for me. I wish you luck though. -
Follow the Money Trail.
That's where you'll find the answer.

No I do not drive for PRIME , nor have I had anything to do with PRIME so stuff the

I own my own trucking operation ( 9 trucks ) and have an Ex prime trainee ( he actually went there , was trained and worked solo for 2 years ) working for us, he has a lot of good things to say about the company and the training he received. He left there and came on with us to drive a dedicated regional run (500 mile rounders ) after his wife had their 1st baby.
You seem to have been the PRIME expert ( from your posts ) and still do not realize that the extra time spent with a trainer or mentor is well worth it.
Heres a NEWS flash " Your the type of wanabee trucker thats GOING to have PROBLEMS with any CARRIER you decide to go with " -
More training the better. Even when you are finished with training, in your own truck you will be learning. As I heard over the CB from an Older Gentleman (Old Timer Trucker) when I first started driving, the day you stop learning out here (the road) the day you better park the truck, for your heading to a crash, yours.....
-
Now let me say you got an argumentative tone in your writings. This does not go over well. This causes nothing but problems on forums. You wanta go there, I may go with you.
And "your the type of business" that drivers talk down so much. I gotta news flash for you, who's gonna believe what you say, except another business guy. You own the business. What you say will not be believe able from the beginning. Business's have a reputaion of ripping people off.
I disagree with you. I am the kinda guy who will do well with a company because I will go in, informed. Why because I've done the homework as they say. I will go in knowing what they've got to offer, good or bad. As I've said I read the info, talked to the drivers, etc., to companies. Companies prefer that a guy go in "wide eyed", they move them around with no concern about their lives, their family time, their financial needs. It doesn't matter why, they do. It could be incompetence, it could be circumstance, it could be lack of ability to manage.
So you say your a business guy. Who's gonna trust you. You benefit from the idea of drivers driving as long as they can as a so called trainee's. If the time spent is worth it to be with a MENTOR, pay the driver the same cpm, or close to it, as you pay the driver. You and companies will be putting their money where your mouth is, instead of looking like rip-off thieves taking advantage of people. Until you do that, save that baloney for some one else.
I will not argue that learning is an on going process. Does this mean a driver will have to get so called training wages forever???
-
Gee TALK about ATTITUDE
In your FEEBLE little mind EVERYONE is a LIAR or out to rip someone off .
You know diddly squat about me or my business yet your BLAB your mouth regarding the TYPE of person I am.
I do not TRAIN drivers , I hire TRAINED drivers and yet you paint me with your little " EVERYONES a CROOK " brush.
You might think your so well informed about a company but theres more to it than that, you have an ATTITUDE of thinking you are being RIGHT 110% and will not listen to anything that does not set right with you or opposes your direction of thought.
You cannot even comprehend what people post , you take a post that notes YOU WILL ALWAYS be learning as EARNING TRAINEE WAGES FOREVER.
I benefit from TRAINED drivers who can do a job that they are well paid for ( the better the training the better it will be for all involved ) and they do it in well appointed / maintained equipment and provide a service to our customers who in turn pay well for that service.
Posted some info on here about PRIME sorry its not what you wanted to hear
, but then its not your site or private thread , so until it is SAVE the BALONEY for someone else.
-
I'm not going to speak to all your baloney. You know what you are and I know what you are. You twist what ever you can to serve your own purpose. You got a problem. You have agenda. I told you I would take the questioning elsewhere, it should be no surprise to you. As for you there is no defense for you except the same old stuff.
You try and recruit drivers to boost your pay and you use your website to do it. You don't like questions asked that will make people think. You have your own way of retaliating. I know it and others know it and don't like it. You have your crowney supporters there that help make it look like you have the support of the people on you website. You try and get new guys as cheap team drivers, and you profit wildly off them. And they are probably being used to do the night driving for trainers who don't want to drive nights. That's why I asked the question, on your website, "Are There Any Trainers Out There That Like Night Driving". Then you tried to turn it around and put it on me, instead of answering the question. Night driving and fatigue are a big issue as I've told you before. There not my issue's, they are an industry issue. Just look it up here on this site. Again I believe that trainers try and use new unsuspecting drivers to do their night driving.
Your "grow up" statement sounds like school girl talk. Your kinda talk is childish, your whole line is childish, play ground talk. I also notice people like you say things on the internet you would never say to peoples face, whats that all about? You grow up and start realizing not everybody is gonna buy into your heap. Prime would have peoples respect if they would just come out a say, "you will have to pay your dues by driving for us for 4 mos", cheap team drivers, in order to get in good with us. If a new guy drives the truck 3,000 miles in a week pay'em.Last edited: Sep 15, 2008
