I've already had a little beating from Mother Nature...a rather rude introduction to the trade...more on that later.

I grew up in Lexington, SC and did my undergraduate sin at Williams-Brice Stadium. There's even a little Gamecock in my CB handle.

I currently live between Lexington and Gilbert. Grew up in Pelion, Lexington County is the only home I've known. I was in Hickory, NC week before last too, small world eh?

    First flatbed horror story...

Wilmington, Delaware. Picking up a load of shingles from IKO. 19 degrees, 40 mph winds with gusts to 60. Nearly got blown off top of the load by a gust tarping a product that's sole purpose for existence is to repel weather. Did I mention the pallets were already double wrapped in thick plastic. It was frustrating but I got it done and boy did that nice warm truck feel good when I was done.

Well, that Prime driver isn't making enough money to compensate for the added work. But if that was me tarping that load you can drive by all clean and pretty, but know I booked that load with a decent payroll and profit. I don't tarp unless I get a good paying backhaul to keep more of the $3-5 a mile no tarp outbound in my pocket, otherwise it's far better to deadhead back without wasting time to get in line for another no tarp oil field load.

Oldironfan and Broke Down 69 Thank this.

Yep, I was nice and clean & warm ;-)

I make a nice living as an owner operator pulling my dry van. I don't chase loads, I'm home 3 nights a week and am very content.

    To each their own...

Why did you tarp a load of shingles?
