Ain't nothing like old iron. This is my baby. I know where there is an early 70s white 9000 for sale. It's killing me not to stop and inquire. I want a new project but something different. For the one for sale in can see a new air ride rear end and some nice straight stacks along with a good paint job. I know it's gotta Cummins under the hood. It would be wicked under a hopper. I stopped a while back just to look.
My thing with that white would be body parts. It has a steel cab and it's starting to rust. It's repairable though.

That's a great rig. One of the trucks I looked at was a 359 Pete but it just wasn't in near As good of shape as the white .
I also worry about being able to get parts for the white . but the body is in great shape. Only one spot of rust on a cab corner .Attached Files:
clausland and slickWillie1980 Thank this. -

That's a great lookin ride you got. The one I know of is a bit older than the one you have. Mechanics will be easy it's the other stuff like interior parts and body parts that would concern me. Plenty of aftermarket parts for the 359s being as they are a popular build. This is another one that has my eye. So many trucks...so little timeRollingRecaps, clausland, OLDSKOOLERnWV and 1 other person Thank this.

Very nice. I love them old cabovers . the interior is near pristine except for the dash . it needs a new dash put in but I have no idea where you could get oneslickWillie1980 Thanks this.

Well I think Volvo took over white so you could start there I guess. Give em the Vin and go from there. If not the internet is a great place. There are alot of great trucks out there you just can't find parts for.

My 69 COF 4070A here had a front wheel limiting valve.Just an air switch that said Dry Road-Wet Road. But back in them 73280 days we were pulling company trailers,we would tighten the trailer brakes good, and back our tractor brakes off to save our brake linings.
Grubby, OLDSKOOLERnWV, bottomdumpin and 4 others Thank this. -
Yup, 1/2 a turn on the horse, 1/4 turn on the wagon....
-
The problems start when you take a tractor with a limiting valve and stretch the frame to make a farm truck. When bobtailing the front brakes would only apply at full braking pressure, which will happen the same way as a sttaight truck unless the limiter valve is removed.
-
they were limiting valves, reduced the air pressure to prevent front wheel lockup. Some air still flowed tot he front brakes. Later studies proved that effective front brakes decrease stopping distances and the DOT outlawed the limiting valves which upset a lot of older drivers and owner operators who used to back off on the front slack adjusters...
