There's a few guys on here ACT, Harleyman who ran in to some bad luck with job choices over the last few months but why do they not come back and rejoin the discussions? Hell I've made some bad decissions trucking especially within this last year but this is a good place to hang around and keep my mind off things.
It would be nice though to hear what transpired.

Clearly someone at link lied through their teeth about me and it became a rumor....so I'm going to clear that up right now.
I showed up for the first two days of their orientation. Anyone who says or implies otherwise is full of ####. Not completing it is not the same as not showing up at all, and again, anyone who says or implies otherwise is full of ####. There were a few reasons why I did not complete it. Looking back now, even without those reasons, I still would not have wanted to work for a company that spreads around such vicious lies about someone they know nothing about for no reason other than to be a bunch of vindictive a-holes. The fact that at least some of their drivers are dumb enough to believe their BS is downright hilarious.
Is there some sort of unwritten rule that dictates that if you attend an orientation with a company, you MUST finish it up and work for them if you're hired? Or am I just the only one who has enough of a spine to say no when too many red flags are risen?
I called my recruiter at swift and postponed my orientation because I didn't want to do walmart dedicated anymore at that point and had been approached around the same time by other companies who expressed interest in me possibly working for them. Out of those, there was only one that I had any real interest in working for. Unfortunately, things didn't work out and I was not hired. If the culture of that particular company weren't so anal retentive, I personally believe I would have easily landed a job there. Anyway, I called my recruiter at Swift once more yesterday and had him reserve me a spot in orientation in Ocala this coming week. -
you wanted to go to swift/walmart because you wanted a shot at walmart even though you have stated before you hate walmart and would never work for them. so you said no to swift and now your going back to swift.

I only said no to walmart dedicated, which I only wanted because the grass seemed greener on that side of the fence. It would have been a great gig, but there were too many hurdles. However, I never closed the door on Swift and used it as a safety net in case other job prospects did not work out. It's easy to say "Well why didnt you try this company first or that one..." I applied to the ones I wanted to work for. I didn't have any luck. "Well there are plenty of OTR companies that are better than Swift..." Sorry, I don't agree with that at all. And even if I did, it's still MY decision and MY career.Last edited: Aug 10, 2012

Truckin' is a disease. Especially if you run OTR. Once you get it you have it for life and there's no turning back. Not that I would want to anyway.I guess that's where I differ with most drivers out here. I don't mind coming home once in a while, but any more than that is too much. If I've been gone 6 weeks and sitting in WH 25 miles from the house and they want to send me to California, I'll be on that like flies on ####.

Trying to find information about Swift walmart dedicated in Arcadia, Florida. I'm currently at Swift. Been here 7 months. Great company but been wanting to move to Florida for a long time. More time off would be great but can't afford a pay cut. Basically wanting to know about time off on this account and pay. Anything to look out for? Thanks
