Take a q- tip with a dab of liquid soap and put it on the latches...
anyway, I would concur.
I have a 2016 Volvo 780 , D13XE, iShift with 2.64s I absolutely love this thing, the mileage is amazing, so smooth and comfortable and quiet(have upgraded insulation package too).
I think most of the emissions system troubles in the latest trucks are with international and Cummins anymore.
Whats the best truck???

Anyone else have anything good or bad to say about the 2017 Volvo 780 with D13 and I shift, by chance? Considering this over a Cascadia Evolution. Thx.

The Best Truck is one that stays out of the Shop and the Wheels keep moving.
With a Post-Emission Truck, that's not going to happen. -
Everybody will work on a pre egr Volvo, they have N14 or Series 60, nothing hard or special

My buddy has 3 2015 Volvos with D13 and one with Cummins, all around 250-300k miles. Cummins has emissions problems(def pump just failed last week), other trucks dont

Best truck is one you don't own
Mich_mane Thanks this. -
You will never reach a single best truck. My ideas of a best truck applies to different work. Macks have gone places sleeper trucks dont dare go even towards the sky catching 10 feet of air now and then. Then sleeper trucks both good and bad gets you to Jersey in good time. Not necessarily out of there. Following up with the day cabs... it's hard to hear you talk when that GMC Screaming turbo tells you to shift.
If you stick me into anything 2001 and older, Im happy. Im not so sure of the fluffy new stuff running about today. If you give me a early 90's that can do a dollar or more or even older iron going back to the 50's Im happier. -
Would rather be getting a glider kit but my only option right now is Lone Mountain. Can't afford 30℅ down on a new truck. Got approved but they're telling me they're out of 2017 Freightliners now. Read a lot of good things about the volvos but bad things about Cummins engines. So I'm considering a new Volvo 780 with D13 and ishift. Concerned about fuel economy and intermittent DPF issues. I could get 13 speed but never operated one and I don't want to risk damaging it. And I'll probably get better fuel economy with the autoshift. I know they have those dpf issues in all trucks, but hey.
My choice is between Volvo, Peterbilt and Kenworth. I won't go used because of the countless nightmare stories I've read about lemon trucks coming outta their lots. New gets me factory warranty and I plan on staying out and hoarding currency. 34 yo no wife no kids no house payment and 11 years with the CDL. Just gonna stay out and bank. So the most reliable of the 3 will be my pick. Boss is strongly suggesting the Volvo w D13. Comfort would be nice since I'll probably be pretty much living in it for a while. -
Wore out hit the nail on the head. The new trucks with all this fuel efficient, and electronic gizmos in the engine. They have added major headaches, and expenses to the company, or O/O in repair bills. No offense this is why all my trucks are 2001 and older. I have less maintenance or breakdown worries, and the trucks are all pre -emission and electronic stuff.

If you want something dependable that will last a long time buy either a Kenworth or Peterbilt. Their reliability is unmatched. But like anything else you have to take good care of them. Try to find one that hasn't been abused. It will be pretty obvious when you open the door to check it out wether they have cleaned it up or not.
