    Hello everyone,

I have an International 9400 with a Detroit 60 series 12.7L motor, and suddenly have been having issues getting it to start (started happening about 1 week ago). After the 3rd long crank the engine will start and run fine, a mechanic told me to replace the check valve. When i took the check valve to him it had the wrong tip so he took the old valve and unscrewed it in half, same with the new one and assembled it so it would have the old valve's tip but with the new valve's spring and seals. A day later i tried to start it and the same thing, on the 3rd long crank it started up. Does anyone have an idea what could be causing this issue?

How old is the bull gear on the motor.
Sometimes when Bull Gear starts to wear out, it causes starting issues

Pull off front cover and check for wear
If bull gear goes out, it can cause motor to jump time. Then it will be an expensive fix

Take it to a shop that has a good Detroit man. When running and pulling does it sound like anything loose. Like a ting ting sound. Also when running look at your fuel bowl and look for tiny bubbles in your fuel. If that, then the valve in your fuel filter unit is bad or you got an air leak in the system
