Did any of you ever consider being a train conductor? Why didn't you become one?
It seems like it would solve a lot of the common complaints. There's a bathroom in the car and you can stand and stretch while driving, plus no traffic.

From what I understand, it isn't so easy. I remember reading that due to safety reasons, there's a button you have to press literally every minute to prove that you are awake and keeping track (ahem) of the rail junctions ahead of you.

I considered it, but it's extremely hard to get into that line of work. Plus my location was not conducive to it. For a time, I considered maritime engineering officer, and then using that experience to get into railroad maintenance work. But, it's a lot easier to hold a steering wheel.
