Also on the sleep apnea front. If you are already thinking it's an issue, odds are any Dr renewing your DoT card will too. So skipping the appointment isn't the smarted thing to do. Unless of course you don't have coverage for the test. I ran into an issue with my DoT and had to take a test. Since I had already quit my old job my benefits were gone. I bit the bullet and did something I've never done before. I applied for Medicaid to get coverage. I'm not sure about your state but in MD all I had to do was swear that I didn't have an income.
But that's just the first hurdle. If you do have sleep apnea you are looking at a 90 day wait before you can go for your DoT again as that is how much data they want to see from your cpap.
I wish you all the luck in the world.

You do understand that you are not telling him what he wants to hear, but what he NEEDS to hear, don't you?G13Tomcat Thanks this.

What would people do without the internet and being able to ask strangers how to make life decisions....Ruthless, TripleSix, lagbrosdetmi and 1 other person Thank this.

It took me a month to find a job after I finished truck school. (I was being picky).
So, I don't know. You may need to find another sprinter gig to get some income while you prepare to go to Become a Trucker School. Or ask about trucker schools that pay you while you're in school? No idea if that's even an option.
Good luck. -
Before the days of "social media", where you can befriend and defriend people who don't even know you exist?
Well, back in those days, everyone had to develop social skills so they could have real friends, not just letters on a computer screen saying that you have friends.Ruthless, KillingTime and nate980 Thank this. -
I don't want to read too much into it and kick a man when he is down, but if he did if fact not show up without calling in, he will never have a decent job until he changes his work ethic.
If he did call in and tell them he needed time off due to a family emergency, then shame on them for firing him.
He didn't loose much by loosing a $9 driving job ( who on earth pays somebody $9 that has the responsibility of driving and making deliveries). You can make more than that in fast food. I suspect, if the guy plays his cards right, loosing his job will end up being the best thing that ever happened to him. He just needs to get himself above water in the immediate future and then he will have options to better himself.TripleSix Thanks this. -
I'm not saying you're wrong...in fact, I agree with you 100%.
If he has $150 after the bills are paid, then he can float about a week. He needs to go to work asap. Thing is, if Pops needs help, Opie needs to be nearby.KillingTime Thanks this. -
Join the military then you will have a guarantee income insurance and can get the job skill training to qualify for the cdl.
