I understand it was just his personal opinion. Do you know how palmer has there trucks set up? Are refrigerators or anything of that nature allowed? I see that millis provides a fridge with the trucks so thats a plus. Im not interested in all the fast food and truck stop food

For tankers, CTL Transportation might sponsor you in cdl school. In other words, they pay for cdl school if you work for them after graduation.

He hauls mostly liquid propane and oil. From what's he has told me the state of Louisiana has alot of opportunity for that stuff but i don't know if any train or sponsor. Wouldn't hurt to ask I'll definitely check it could be useful

I live in Mississippi. I, too, have a number of family connections to trucking. Here's what I can tell you about royal: they used to run a lot of older equipment. They had a rep for running guys beyond HOS, and for hiring guys that couldn't get a medical card without flat out lying. I've been told recently that they've cleaned up a lot of that stuff because shippers were increasingly turning them down for poor CSAs, raggedy equipment, and the like. It seems they've bought some new equipment, switched to elogs, and started enforcing their standards. Still, I'd look to some of the other options first.

Kllm/ffe isn't a bad choice out of Mississippi. Living anywhere in Mississippi except within an hour of Memphis will make finding freight to get home on or go out from home with a challenge. That's what makes kllm attractive: they find freight coming into and leaving Mississippi every day. I'd stay away from swift for this specific reason (there are other more general reasons I'd avoid swift, too). The challenge of finding freight is why people are recommending regional and dedicated outfits to you.

There are some decent outfits running out of Mississippi, but you generally need two years experience to run for them. Howard in laurel/Ellisville is a good example.

The guy who suggested going to meridian cc is on the right track. Fill out a fafsa. It's possible to get a grant and end up not owing anybody anything except gratitude for us tax paying folk. You may have a lot more appealing options if you can wait til you are 22.

Howard Transportation hires new cdl grads. A few drivers that post on here went there right out of cdl school. @DustMyBroom

I understand, palmer told me that if they cant find freight coming into or out of Mississippi then alabama and Tennessee are still fairly close options. All that comes out of Mississippi is chickens and some produce
