This is one thing I do not miss about driving, how slow the shps can be.That's ridiculous having to wait that long to be loaded. Is there a place outside of the shippers property you can park?Otherwise ask them where the closest place is you can park.
Out of hours and stuck without parking, what do you do?

8 convective hrs in the sleeper stops your 14hr clock.
How much drive time have you used so far and what direction is your load going? -
There is a very nice 'pay to park' at this location....
AF Truck Center
300 W North Ave, Northlake, IL 60164
It costs $20 but there is always parking.
Looks pretty close.... -
That's not a fair statement. If you can't go into a receiver or shipper with 5+ hours on your 14 and expect to get out and to parking, then "trip planning" is no long that important if you have to arrive immediately after coming off a 10 break.
So. Just how much time are we supposed to figure on after arrival for loading/unloading, going forward?Kenj1968, SingingWolf, tucker and 8 others Thank this. -
How many pre plans on jit loads are allowing for a full 10 just before appt? Yeaaaaahhhhh....
ramblingman, rank and 25(2)+2 Thank this. -
For the benefit of the newbies... if you're in an area where there is #### for parking, like Chicago. Look for shippers and receivers with unsecured lots and lines of trucks waiting to load or unload... Like the service road behind the Joliet weigh station.
Have you loaded at a shipper or receiver and they don't have a guard shack? Write that #### down in your book of secret parking.
Note the name of another shipper that's nearby in case someone bangs on your door... "Oh wow, I must be at the wrong place. This isn't Lineage Logistics?"flatbeb mac, JC1971, Badmon and 5 others Thank this. -
This sounds like a nightmare.

I thought the same thing, he's already been sitting there for 4 hours. By the time they finish loading him, he'll only need to go back to the same spot for a couple of hours, or until somebody wakes him up.
OP, when they're done loading you, just go back to where you are parked now and go to sleep. It's Chicago, trucks park on the street all the time.ncmickey Thanks this. -
I was there for a couple of hours a few weeks ago. Nice place. I didn't have to pay (they give you 3 hours free) but if I had to, I'd pony up the $20 to spend the night there.ncmickey Thanks this.
