Does millis pay for transportation and lodging during training if not then I may have to go with jim palmer because they provide lodging and food and transportation costs.

No Millis doesn't pay for transportation or food during school. No upfront cost for hotel but will be taken out at $20 a week for the 1st yr to pay for the hotel and school.

In that case I'll probably go with jim palmer. They pay for everything and offer good benefits and pay. I was at one point considering a career in law enforcement but the hiring is spotty around here. Im wanting to do trucking as a career because i saw how happy my uncles were and are.

Jim Palmer is a good company but their benefits are far from good. Their medical insurance is an Health Savings Account (HSA). If you are single you contribute $86 per week for a plan that has you pay 100% of expenses until you pay $5,000 in a year. The good thing about the HSA is it is cash and belongs to you. As long as you spend the HSA funds on approaved medical expenses you pay no taxes on them. If at some future date you decide to leave the company, you can take that cash with you. If you decide to spend the HSA money on beer and hookers, you will owe ordinary income tax on it. This s the only knock I found on the company. If you are young and healthy and avoid doctors like most men you can accumulate a tidy bankroll. At all times the HSA funds are your funds, in your name. They follow you if you leave the company. It's similar to a Roth IRA. I think the provider is Anthem Blue Cross.

Study your states CDL manual. If you get all the endorsements ( tanker, hazmat, doubles etc.) it opens so many more opportunities for you.

    G13Tomcat and DRAGON64 Thank this.

Agreed, and let me say that if you wish to ever carry "precious cargo" then you can get passenger, but it is not needed for Jim Palmer or Millis.
