We got a little off topic on your thread here.

But if possible, take your trailer with you to the rental store. I tried to pick one up at Sun Belt rentals years ago in or near Chicago. They let me do a test spot & it was too small to effectively cut through the decking. Am sure stores have various sizes etc. Also have your template or what ever you would like to use to layout the holes ready to go before you rent. Think the holes I cut were an inch & a quarter in diameter.

Just one other note, probably won't be an issue for you with just cars and pickups, BUT, just cutting a hole in the 1/8 deck is going to give you far less strength around the hook hole than a true punched deck, those little edges that surround the hole add quite a bit of strength and keep deck "tearing" to a min.
