Yea I asked for local runs and was told to my face and via Qualcomm that they have local drivers for that. Almost got myself fired at that point. "I don't see anyone else standing here begging for miles and you haven't looked up from Facebook in 2 hours."
Told them if they can't find a load, I'm going to go take my trailer full of recycled tires I just tcalled and go drop it, bobtail to a terminal with some planners who are about making money and find a load to Phoenix.
They just kinda looked at me jaw agape. I've been sitting here watching people drop trailers and go on home time for 2 days and the only daycab I have seen has cobwebs on the wheels. Won't be taking anymore loads to the southeast. I bet if they let me gave access to the load board, my ### wouldn't be sitting here. I'd never be sitting anywhere.
The Cnsper reply led me in a different direction of the post... I yield. -

I remember a load offer that required picking up an hour ago and delivery two days ago, a local load. For fun I declined the load and for the reason I said, "Flux Capacitor not functioning".
I immediately got a Qualcomm message directing me to the nearest terminal to repair the truck. I called and got the old hand answering the phone. He read the reply I got and nearly choked he laughed so hard. There's some developmentally challenged dispatchers and some great ones. Old hand took my truck off shop status and went to personally talk to the planner.
By the way, remember the bubble map thing? One trick I used was asking for "home time" in a zip code where freight is hot, preferably cross country. Once I got the long haul I cancelled the home time request.Gearjammin' Penguin, Airborne, RedRover and 2 others Thank this. -
To be fair that could be something intended for a day cab, but it popped up. The computer is what picks loads for Mac 30. No planner did that. Probably a trailer sitting in the Memphis terminal to be delivered by a local.
No shocker it's sitting there never to be picked, till some local runs it over.Last edited: Jan 7, 2017
