    Cat will be the best, old volvos have 1.8mil miles no problems.

    Yes, mostly Ontario to Texas but not only; , it's flat route ,best for fuel economy ,less pressure on equipment, I don't use the jake brake , the engine doesn't overheat , the fan engages with AC in traffic only ,less pressure the emission system. Not light load only lately , we pull all kind of freight including reefer ,lots of engines for Chrysler. I did 25-30 trips to Ca, BC with this truck, but doesn't worth, first I get paid / mile, burning more fuel and second the mountains are killing engines.
    I learned through my pocket busted half a dozen radiators and 2 engines in Utah on I-15,80 pulling heavy reefer, a company D12 in 2003 on I-15 , and in 2004 my D60 on I-80. I'm happy with less $$ and win in maintenance bills on long term.

    I just start looking for new truck and was thinking for 2016 Volvo with Cummins smart advantage and Eaton-Fuller SMART ADVANTAGE 10 SPD Ultra Shift and rear ratio 2.64. Not sure what is the difference in MPG from D13

    You know that's a upcharge for lesser quality (cummins&eaton)components?

    For a greade fuelmilage must match and work
    engine>tranny>ends 100% together.

    If you mix it up you loose

    The volvo setup d13 i-shift ends with tge ecu and vcu seting is beside the merzedes actros the best on the marked.

    The vcu collect info from
    the axle for weight
    The trany
    AND the gps so it know about the road up/downhill
    On this the vcu and ecu optimice the shifting to it (rpm / time of shift)
