i am completely baffled with what I have going on. I have an 2002 Pete 379 and it has that RAMI multi and antenna system. The issue I am having is that I have no reception from either my radio or my CB. The CB turns on and I am able to transmit, everyone says they hear me just fine but I can't hear anything, not even static. The radio turns on and I am able to work all the functions on it, but like the CB I hear nothing coming out of the speakers. Not even any hissing noise or anything.
Does anyone know what may be going on. I pulled the headliner down and tried to see if wires came unhooked or maybe rubbed and shorted out but everything looks good.
The funny thing is while I am driving the CB does seam to come to life now and then where I am able to hear and get the static where I have to turn the squelch up. But then it doesn't last long and goes silent?
Any help would be great!!
Nick
No reception

The easiest thing to do would be to bypass the factory Cable in the truck and run a new cable to the existing mirror Mount antenna and see if the problem persists
-
I should have mentioned that I did actually try and run a new coax out to the mirrors and the problem still existed no change at all. Thx
-
Silly thought but is the rf gain turned all the way off??

chk to make sure the ant stud is dont the correct way...Going from top to bottom
top part of stud where ant attaches
ss washer /lock washer if there is one,if not dont worry about it
plastic washer
mount(compare yours to pic as a rough idea)
bottom of ant stud -
Carany, let's give you a little help here.
Let's start with what kind of radio?
This is so I know what we are looking at for controls,
When you say you don't hear anyone, does this mean either
You do not see the needle moving when you change channels
Or you see the needle moving but no sound comes out.
Now if it the last thing, I am betting it is bad mic or mic cord.
If it the first thing then we could start with taking the radio out and trying it in another truck or car.
If it works in another vehicle then it is an antenna problem but if it doesn't, then it is a radio issue.
I don't think it is a question of people hearing you and you can't hear them as an antenna issue, I think it is something else.rabbiporkchop Thanks this. -
Now that I think about it I suspect the bad connection is inside the microphone if it's a Cobra radio. Try shorting pin 1 to pin 4 on the radio and see if your receive comes in and if it does then your problem is inside the microphone.

Where his static has been known to go in and out at times i have my doubts it a mic...The mic connection shouldnt be moveing cause its screwed in tightly...Im thinking somewhere along the lines of coax and ant issue some where..

Cobra radios require pin 1 shorted to pin 4 for receive. Broken wire in microphone plug duplicates similar symptom. Bad switch in microphone also duplicates symptom.
10 meter rigs only need 3 wires to operate. Pin 4 is unused.
