Or you buy a cheaper truck and have it rebuilt yourself and still be less than 75k.

I would love to drive a '55 chevy nomad for uber, but it doesn't really make a lot of sense.
For a reality check, find a millionaire and tell him to buy you that truck so you can make him money. If he does, sell him your ocean front property in Montana.
Not trying to be a jerk, I just don't want a fellow truck driver make a regretable decision. Make money, then buy sweet $#!+.Lepton1 Thanks this. -
Just seen on the first listing 3rd image that it comes with a complimentary full on assult piss bottle with pistol grip. LOLKnucklehead, Lepton1 and cnsper Thank this.

Honestly.... NO. Move on to a better priced one. Buying "fixed up" is just buying someone elses headaches.

well thanks for the info guys, seems like yall say pass. which has lead me to another thought, maybe i buy a truck thats been neglected for years, maybe pick one up for 10k or less. my question is, how expensive is it to take a truck thats got a CAT from the factory and swap in a n14 or a 12.7 detroit? also, i do belive you can pair any tranny right? say if it had a eaton 10, i could put in a 13?

Buy the truck with the motor you want. There is no need to go through all that expense. Yes you can swap transmissions. now if that money is really burning a hole in your pocket then send it my way. Now if it were me, I would take that 40k and buy 3-5 mobile homes and put them with a property management company to rent out.

Yeah I can see that, I bought a pole truck with a long wheel base that I used for a bit local, had such a huge gap on it, it was good for trusts and such, sold it to a guy who made it into a motorhome.
BUT the thing I am seeing is these trucks running with huge gaps between the truck and 53 foot trailer and no real reason for it other than to burn more fuel and look (as my drivers say) look really foolish. I wonder why would they do that.Lepton1 Thanks this. -
well i'll be honest with you, i love the look. purely looks

Kix's truck is nice. And if it's the one you're interested in and you can put that much money down on it and you'll be happy driving it down the road then buy it. You're going to have a lot more into a different truck buying one for $40 and trying to do everything that's been done to this one. $35k for 3 years is around $1000 a month. If you'll be pulling a cow trailer you might as well drive something you're proud of that looks good going down the road. I was at $2.34 all miles last year so that $1000 a month will be no problem.

Hoses look old, rust on motor, flex pipe for exhaust is rusty, frame tanks and exhaust look to be newly painted or retouched using rattle cans. You can put a lot of make up on a pig and it's still a pig. Now it is probably a good truck, but very few 97s are worth $75000 and this ain't one of them imo. Also with $40 down a bank still may not want to cover the last $35k on a truck that old. Buy one for half that and fix it up yourself. Plenty of pre 99s with rebuilds much cheaper than that.
Zeviander, Toomanybikes, Ke6gwf and 2 others Thank this.
