You should study using the book for the state you'll be testing in. I'm new to trucking so I may be wrong, but from the books I've seen from several different states the information is identical.

There are a few differences. I studied and took my CPL in Maryland. When I went to Iowa and did the practice tests in the classroom there were some questions that were never mentioned in Maryland. After never scoring less than 90 -95% in MD I squeaked a practice test in Iowa with a 75%.
My advice, study your home state until you know where you are going. It will not hurt you at all as they are all very similar. It just seems some states like to ask a few different questions. Once you know you're going to (insert state here) go online and get their manual PDF and start using their practice tests.

There are practice tests ON HERE TOP OF THE PAGE CDL PRACTICE TESTS, go over those and you will get a good feel for what to expect. If you go with JPT and are in Mississippi you will go to Missouri, you will study and take your CDL Permit AT Jim Palmer. I am still tossing between them and Roehl but I did work with MILLIS for a while I can answer some questions, been on the phone MANY Hours with Recruiters from all 3 places

Jim palmer won't happen right now. Insurance company won't let them. Right now its between kllm and community college

You might want to check with Millis. Heard they just changed the entire program. All for the better from what I'm hearing. Including lodging and meals plus pay while with the trainer at .42 for all miles the truck travels.SHOJim Thanks this.

They aren't from mississippi unfortunately

I do not think you being in Mississippi matters. You just go to the closest school. I may be wrong but I been going back and forth the past 5 years. But became Serious 2 months ago and have read everything on this site and another. Knowledge is power and In my opinion MILLIS I could see staying with until they booted me for OLD age. 5 years ago I was meeting alot of truckers (towing) but I saw many in different company's every several months. I much rather stay with 1 company the rest of my life.

Yes, Millis is one company without all the negative posts. Seems to be a top notch company.Mel0574 Thanks this.
