    I started with an f350 and a Kaufman eazy 4 trailer. All they are going to look at on the truck is the axle and tire ratings and will go by your plate for overall weight on the truck and not the tag on the door or overall truck rating. I had a 36k plate and was inspected many times. You wont end up heavy on the truck or trailer depending on the trailer rating (all Kaufman's are not the same as they make it what you want when you buy it new and will re-rate it if you buy a used one and want a different weight rating) because bigger stuff wont fit to make you over weight. Height is the issue and struggle with an easy 4.

    I am a huge fan of the eazy 4 and it made me more money than my seven car trailers because I could keep it loaded. The infinity trailers look nice when they are new but you will spend a fortune keeping them welded up as in six months they are junk and break. The Application is better than it use to be but still is not meant to be used everyday. They are now owned by Kaufman and started out being built by the brother of the guy that owns Kaufman. If you owned a car lot and used it once a week from the local auction it might be OK, maybe.

    Now though you didnt ask I am going to give you real and the best advice. Car hauling is in the toilet and not getting any better. Buy a Bass Boat to pull behind that truck on the weekends and you will be much better off.

    But if you are Hell Bent that you want to haul cars this is what I would do. I would sell my truck and take the money and go buy a nice class 8 truck and a used Kaufman eazy 4 trailer. You can currently buy a nice truck with a big comfortable sleeper in good shape with around 500k miles on it all over the place for about $15k and a good used trailer should cost you between $8K and $13k and you will have the right equipment to give yourself a fighting chance to make it and if you dont your truck and trailer will still be worth what you paid for it when you need to sale it.

    If you were making more money with a 4 car than a 7 car I don't know wtf you were doing but it was way wrong. Spending a whole day or days bouncing around picking up every car you could to "keep it full" maybe?

    Nit, are you offering me a job, or already have one lined up to be a Bass fisherman? I'll take it, plus I get to have a pickup, which I need for other stuff, and not a Class 8. Yes I know car hauling is bad now, but I have 30 some contacts for hauling here in DFW, and only 2 of these are not local. They all pay better than average, and some excellent. I've personally met 7 of them, when going out with my now retired neighbor. They are decent people, that want to rely on decent haulers, especially the custom Jeep Wrangler builder that pays $1.25 mile for most of his hauls 700 miles or less, and more than that for the long hauls. And this isn't going to be a primary income, so 30K/year is fine. Better than working somewhere for someone else, with people that don't care about anything for this amount of money or maybe more. Obviously 30K isn't my goal. This business will also help our taxes big time with my wife's income even though she works from home. But like I said, I'm going to wait a month or so before making a final decision, and moving forward, until the new administration starts their stuff.
    Yes, I knew this about the Kaufman. Appalachian's owned by a group of investors as of 2 years ago, and have changed a few things on their trailers, but yes still not as solid as Kaufman. I don't understand what you're saying about Infinity, do you have personal experience with this? Infinity is 5 miles south of me, and I went and looked at them, and they look extremely solid, with very thick welds, like on bulldozers, blades hay spikes and such. Doesn't Infinity have a good warranty, like 3 years or so, as opposed to 1 year for most? I mean that GVW400 is a 12K trailer, very solid for a 4 car. Of course they are out of my price though for a while. I'm thinking of going with 3 car right now, that is similar to Appalachian's Top Deck 3 car, but use Kaufman or someone else that will build it, and I have a few custom builders that have already shot me a quote.

    Infinity isn't known for being the best quality. But then again neither is Kaufman. No matter what you get you will probably end up doing some welding on it that's for sure

    Boy Infinity has been talked up here and on autoexpeditor.com, and a few other places. I really like their new configurationgs for my future use that is. I know about Sun Country, but they don't have configurations for a 4500. I've seen the Wally Mo as well, but don't like the drive-in. Like I said that Infinity looked stout, and is 12K lbs. So any trailer that is stout enough to hold up over these horrible roads in places and not have many problems for at least a few years?

    I started out with an infinity and I still believe it to be the best starter trailer out there, but yes you'll probably have to do some welding on it at some point.
