Had a question to ask you guys. I wanted to know about my auto insurance.
Currently I am paying for auto insurance on a car I don't drive because of me driving a truck now and not home very often.
If anything happens on the truck I drive it affects my insurance.
If I cancel my auto insurance will my rates still decrease if I cancel it and am a safe driver with the truck?
Thanks
insurance question

I think what happens with that is it doesn't matter, I had been in a couple incidents in my personal car, I had a chair fall out of my pick up truck on to I-90 a couple years ago and the chair was in the middle of the road for 15-20 minutes before someone in a Kia came and hit it.
What the insurance industry has is a data base that's called Lexus Nexus (I know sounds like something out of James Bond Film) and anytime anything happens that involves insurance it's recorded on to the Lexus Nexus data base and it doesn't matter who the insurance carrier is they all reference that data base and adjust your rate accordingly.
So if something was to happen Lexus Nexus gets it and records it and all the insurance companies use that to background check you.Abigail78630 Thanks this. -
Lexus Nexus. What a catchy name, lol
What I mean tho is insurance rates can go up or down depending on if you carry insurance or are driving.
I'm pretty sure if I cancel my insurance for too long my rates can go up cause they will think I am nolonger driving a vehicle.
In reality tho i am still driving a 18wheeler.
So im curious if they will find out about this .
I would hate to have my insurance go up If I cancel it even tho I'm still driving.
Who's insurance goes up in a accident, my, the company's or both?Abigail78630 Thanks this. -
Ok I guess I understand but here are a couple things.
If you have financed the car, you can't drop the insurance.
The truck you are driving for a company doesn't have a thing to do with your car insurance.
Oh and if you get in an accident either vehicle, the insurance isn't effected in the other vehicle.Abigail78630 and Mike2633 Thank this. -
Keep in mind if you cancel insurance you also need to handle that with your state registration story.. my brother in law let his insurance lapse state found out pulled his registration he did not know got license suspended when caught driving without registration so check with your local DMV or tag office and see what you need to do.

I dropped my insurance and turned the tags in for my mustang duee to the same issue.
Parked it on grass and poof rotten floor boards, gas tank, frame you name it. if your gunna park your car park it on asvalt or in a garage if you can.
Yea I know I didn't respond to the question but I hope you can avoid the rust nightmare I'm dealing withAbigail78630 and Mike2633 Thank this. -
No I can't my cars from California originally 21 years not a spec of rust, it came into contact with some Ohio salt and Calcium Cholorite and already I'm seeing mild rust on the frame shocks and fuel tank.Abigail78630 Thanks this.

Fix that rust asap. It's a cancer. Don't let your car go to waist.
Abigail78630 and Mike2633 Thank this. -
Put your car under storage insurance. Decent companies have that option while still maintaining a minimal driving ability (like 500 miles a year) to take it to and from a mechanic ect... still covered.

I've had drivers at work tell me trucking has no effect on their car insurance and others claim they were involved in a truck accident or ticket and their car insurance skyrocketed. I believe once THAT driver demonstrated that the incident was in a commercial truck he was able to get his car insurance back down to the normal rate he had been paying.Abigail78630 Thanks this.
