Ran up behind this load today in my car. Had about 5 safety vests for flags and had it lit up, but not legal. Probably a 5-6 foot overhang.

What's illegal about this load?

Hope he wasn't going far...

Ugly. Loaded heavy on the left, hanging over on the right side with a divisible load.

All depends where it's at. In CA if your hauling building materials you wouldn't even need a permit for that. I hauled 60' rebar in CA on a 48' trailer with no permit totally legal. Hanging that much off the back at least. Flagged and lit to run at night.

Thats just asking for a inspection.

You should see some of the logging trucks up here in northern Alberta. I swear some of them are pushing 20 feet of overhang. Sometimes when the truck hits a dip at speed the logs will flex and slam into the pavement.
OLDSKOOLERnWV, passingthru69 and ramblingman Thank this. -
Let me show my ignorance....so no OVERSIZE banner? I thought there were provisions for beams and such...Steel and Pipe moves a lot of dimensional steel figured they may know something I don't? I took 72' utility poles from Kansas to Nebraska and as long as the BOL stated they were Public Utility Poles nothing needed except banners and flags.

Yeah the load looks abit shonky however depending on state laws it could be perfectly legal if he wasn't going far to deliver he'll probably get away with it.

Illegal in every state.

Same down south. They have them old yellow pine logs going to the chipping mill. At least 15 foot flopping around back there
