    Heap you did...by "law" you can not do any work associated with the truck ( especially fueling) as its something that can be checked and verified by your fuel receipt.

    LGarrison, rabbiporkchop and Lepton1 Thank this.

    Why would you do that? How are you going to explain it in an audit? It's not going to fly.

    LGarrison and Toomanybikes Thank this.

    You can fuel off clock. As owner op you can use personal convance. Thats when my truck happens to need fuel on the way home. Ive stopped at grocery store on the way home too.

    No. Fuelling is on-duty. Period.

    On-duty time shall include:

    (2) All time inspecting, servicing, or conditioning any commercial motor vehicle at any time;

    (8 ) Performing any other work in the capacity, employ, or service of, a motor carrier; and

    http://www.ecfr.gov/cgi-bin/retrieveECFR?gp=1&ty=HTML&h=L&mc=true&=PART&n=pt49.5.395#se49.5.395_12
    You can stop at as many stores as you like, but if you fuel your truck at one of them, that's on-duty by definition.
