Obviously no one can tell the future but I'm looking for some experience and knowledge you hopefully play in on this post. What is the outlook for owner operators in say 3 years time. Is everyone going to need a truck that uses def? Electronic logs? More products less products to haul? Best type of load to pull for job security?

Markets reaching record highs....what could possibly go wrong?

Yeah that's what I thought when I overpaid by far for where I live as prices were going up every day (2006). I was one of the last dummies. It all came to a screeching halt about a month after I bought it. Then the collapse.

My sister got lucky. She bought a house in California for $250,000 and then sold it just months before the collapse for $750,000.

We will see an increase in marginal owners who can't afford to run their business as a business, then we will see an increase in crap drivers to fill the gaps for those who either left because of their disillusionment or moved to be owner operators and now are marginal owners.
Rates will hold steady because of the saturation in the markets with too many trucks and owners who will take anything they can get to keep afloat.
Oh yeah, this same story has been happening for the past 14 years that I know of so it should continue for the next 10.Lepton1, warrocgman and strollinruss Thank this. -
I predict what ever happens truckers will still gripe!

Electronic log, that's already law. You have till end of this year to comply. DEF truck is only need when you can't fix your old truck. I thought they are also going to stop the sales of glider kit trucks as loop hole of getting around emissions or limit the numbers of sales so low that guys like Fitzgerald can't sell enough to stay in business.
