I did my research (although not much) about Travel Centers of America and Flying J's (I believe they're called)
and their facilities, specifically fitness rooms.
Just exactly how detailed of equipment do they have, I mean I'm cool with just a treadmill or an exercise bike, but it'd be pretty awesome if they had 40-80lb freeweights among other stuff.
Now I'm not complaining, because tbh, I appreciate what's already there, as far as infrastructure, and I have to be thankful to the elder drivers for that. But I still can't picture what's out there.

tbh I didn't know truck stops had fitness rooms. Maybe ive been going to the wrong ones. The two Pilots by where I live def don't have any bikes or weights. Just jog outside

Ferightliner makes an in sleeper resistance band set. Just in case that's something you'd be interested in

Never seen a truck stop that has a fitness room of any sort. I mostly frequent Pilot, Flying J and Loves. The few Petros and TAs I've been to didn't have them either.
What you will see is drivers walking or jogging around the parking lot for exercise.ASmallFleetDriver Thanks this. -
Never seen a fitness room in a truck stop. See alot of em in hotels and they are almost always empty.

There are perhaps a handful of truck stops that have a "fitness center" but I don't even recall where I've seen one last. The free weights are probably not going to be found outside of dedicated fitness centers due to injury liability concerns.
Trucking and "real fitness routine" aren't easy to match up. Not saying it can't be done. Just saying you're going to have to go out of your way to make it happen, in every sense of the term. You'll learn different body-weight routines that you'll rely on more than anything else, I imagine. -
No amount of exercise will give you a Trucker's body. And I mean NO exercise. You have to eat Subway or Chester's or Arby's or McDonald's. You can have Cinnabon's or Krispy Kremes. Don't for get the hot dogs that have been there for a few months. Plenty of sugar, plenty of caffeine, plenty of salt. Combine that with a total lack of exercise and you will have the Trucker's Body that the women dig. My wife says that she and her next husband will live well on my life insurance.

My advice? Buy resistance bands from Walmart... double/triple them up and you have enough resistance to get a real workout.
Schneider had decent workout rooms in most of their large OC's, but still don't recall ever seeing free weights. -
Most truckers enjoy a well-rounded exercise regime, consisting of:
- Jumping to conclusions
- Flying off the handle
- Running down their fellow drivers
- Carrying a chip on their shoulder
- Pushing their luck
- Dodging responsibility
Rusty Trawler, tlalokay, Bakerman and 14 others Thank this.
