Update. I found what happened was the piston cooling jet on cylinder 3 came loose or fell out and that is what destroyed number 3 cylinder.Warranty covered everything and dealer covered the towing, so it could have been a lot worse. I've been running my old fld for a few weeks to help cover my bills, and darn you Rank you put the thought in my head to buy back the fld as a spare. But not now. I may keep my eyes open for a older rig I can buy cheap just to keep around. Cause thinking back over the past year, the down time is what hurt the most. How many of you keep a spare truck around? Or would I be just wasting my money?
I went over to the darkside(bought a 2011)

I do. Worst part is keeping the mice away. Insurance broker needs to let you swap trucks. There would be an added expense of plates depending on how you work that outOxbow and johndeere4020 Thank this.

Darn you. I figured you would say that.
rank Thanks this. -
Pls enlighten us how the emissions caused this engine failure.

I can't speak for Icesheeple but the VVA housing on a certain 2005 Accert engine let loose and spewed metal everywhere and put holes where Cat never intended. That's an engine failure caused by emissions.Last edited: Jan 30, 2017
Al. Roper, Oxbow, PeteyFixAll and 3 others Thank this. -
But in this case it isn't a Cat.
This failure has ,as described here, nothing to do with emissions -

Hah! I really don't know anything about it but around here on Saturday mornings there's a car show and they always recommend fox urine to keep mice and other critters off stored cars, seemed plausible to me.Oxbow, snowman_w900, PeteyFixAll and 3 others Thank this.

I'm curious how they use it!
I pictured putting the fox urine inside the truck! I s'pose putting some on the ground around it might do the trick... as long as you remember its there, and don't track it into the truck.
When I was a pup, I did quite a bit of trapping, and usually had a supply of fox urine. One of my brothers pissed me off, and I squirted him with it.. Problem was, I did the "squirting", in the house. Saying Mom was pissed would be a bit of an understatement. I did a lot of scrubbing, for a long time... Long after the stink was gone, SHE could still smell it!Oxbow, Lepton1, snowman_w900 and 6 others Thank this.
