i drive a 2014 vnl670....my top indicator light next to outlet is not working.....so when I plug it in for night; is there another way I can tell its actually on and receiving power? My lower Indictor light works and wil sometimes be on and other times not lit, the next day. The times when it's not lit I wonder if it was working at all...The truck has still started each and every time I've used it...

So is there another way to know if it's receiving power from the cord at least?

Twice I've told the shop about it and twice they've not replaced the bulb (issues are phoned in and they come take it while I'm home).
I'm assuming they only just checked to see if it's working which is nice but what if my cord pulled out of socket just enough to not connect I wouldn't know it

Which outlet? The one under the drivers door or the one under the bunk? The block heater is under the door as for indicator light I am sure there is none. At least not on my 2015

    The one under drivers door
There 2 bulb lights right next to it

Top is supposed to light up red when cord is plugged in

So ok. If you don't have indicator lights how do u know if plug is powering your engine block ?

    Is there a dash light?

There's a few ways.On my cat you can actually feel the heat where the heater element is in the block. If you listen carefully you can hear it too. Sounds like a kettle warming up. You should feel the cord being a little warm especially a cheap one. When you unplug it you might see a tiny blue spark from you breaking the circuit. If you start up a dead cold engine compared to one that was plugged in thats a dead giveaway. Detroits sound like parts are going to fly out of them at any second lol

Get a cord with a lighted plug on the end. That'll tell you if there's power to the cord.

An easy way. In the morning when before you start your truck turn the key to the on position and read what the water temp is.

-Top light is for power avail.

-Bottom indicates when the heater is actually running.

You have the optional thermostatic controlled block heater..... That's good !!

...it saves power by turning the heater on and off as necessary.

    Ding!
Freightliner will be about 65*. I'd imagine a Vulva somewhere close to that.

Stick something metallic into the end of the cord..... you'll know if its got power.
