I'm currently about to get my CDLS in the next few days and narrowed it down between TMC & NTB Trucking as my top pics. Really leaning towards TMC at the moment but the pay is intimidating..... Are they're any current TMC drivers that run in the regional Midwest area that can vouch and say they make a decent coin working there? The recruiter told me Ohio ( where i currently live) is a big big hot spot for they're freight and that i should have no problem grossing 11 to 1300 a week as they claim. Just need verification on the subject before i make a decision of the 2..

The the good news is, recruiters never lie. What part of Ohio are you from?Highway Sailor and snowman_w900 Thank this.

Hence why I'm asking on this forum and not taking the recruiters word for it. I'm in the Dayton OH area.

What type of trucking are you interested in? TMC is obviously open deck but is that where your heart is set?
-
I have a hard time believing they make 1100+ starting out.
snowman_w900 and johndeere4020 Thank this. -
Not really to be honest. I've seen at least 15 recruiters at school, talked to a few truckers at truck stops, filled out around 60 + applications so far to other companies and after research, asking around, and catching recruiters up in lies with good questions I've narrowed them all the way down to these 2 as my personal pics. I've found allot of others i would enjoy but they all require experience first to get in the door with.

From all the info of the good and bad stories from previous drivers there it seems like (correct me if I'm wrong) that the fleet manager and if you stay in a heavy traffic area for loads determine the pay in which you might make a week?

You filled out 60 applications? 60? I have been driving 25 years and have filled out 2. I couldn't name 60 companies to work for if I had to. Decide what your goals are first then fill out applications.
snowman_w900, johndeere4020, MJ1657 and 2 others Thank this. -
I was told to fill out as many as i could to get a jump start on the hiring process before i finished school. Those employment search engine websites always sent me links to trucking companies hiring on a daily basis.

The first thing you need to decide is if you want to pull a flatbed or not. It is a lot of hard work. Throwing 100+ pound lumber tarps multiple times a day. Moving chains, binders, straps. I loaded and unload yesterday. All said and done I walked 19,000 steps. Changed clothes three times and got rained on twice.
I love it and wouldn't do anything else but pull an open deck. I also understood it's not for everyone.cke Thanks this.
