Ok folks. I bought a 2013 mack pinnacle with the mp8.
I've had it for about 3 weeks. I was heading from Atlanta to Columbus Ohio lost all pulling power. Then it eventually shot out several codes. Required a parked regen which didn't happen. The truck derated and I was towed to Somerset ky. When they got the truck it was automatically assumed that the injectors were bad and were replaced. Less than 1500 miles later all the same codes came back engin derated to 5mph. Now the truck is in okc volvo mack dealer. They first told me it would be Friday or Monday befoe they could even diagnosis the problem. After catching a ride from a friend back to houston they call me today the next day and have it figured out. They say it is the seventh injector. $1484 to fix. It appears $870 for diagnosis. Sure seems like a lot of money to see what the problem is for a $100 part. Could I assume that if this don't fix the problem they will refund the diagnosis money.
Does anybody have a suggestion on what might be hand In hand with a bad doser.

I wouldn't assume that....
Call Somerset and tell them the injectors didn't fix the problem ...... see what they say.
I don't know anything about the macks but I've been screwed by these new engines long time....BoxCarKidd and Pnwtrucker Thank this. -
Yeah when I talked to Somerset the service manager told me he thought it was the nox sensor..
I said why didn't that get fixed or looked at. Go figure.
Also I talked to the volvo dealer in Memphis tn where I bought 3 weeks ago they said they might help me out. I'm not holing my breath. -
The nox sensor is cheap, the 7th injector is a little more expensive, but not horrible.
I'm confused as to why the first dealer thought it was injectors. That's not a cheap job, about $5,000. They should of checked either the nox, or even the crankcase knock sensor before ever thinking about the actual injectors. When mine went out, they just died and truck wouldn't start or stay running. -
Yes you are right on the injectors. It ran $4300. They said the codes were a common sign of bad injectors. Also I did fail to mention it was starting real hard. the injector cups are a common problem. With this motor.

I would say pull the radiator cap and drive another truck under it but then you might be moving a problem to the new truck.
I have had so many issues with Mack's that I have driven, you would have to give me a fleet of them so the scrap could buy me a different brand.
I will never own a Volvo made Mack.Lepton1 Thanks this. -

When i was getting my own truck, this was my reasom for staying away from the volvo/mack trucks.
They play the guessing game while you are going bankrupt.
The true mechanical job is where they find the problem and fix it for good. This particular service acts like part changers not mechanics.
I dealt with volvo before and promised myself never get in another one of them.
I really feel your pain and wishing you the best. Hope your problems with the truck will end here. -
Cat ,when did you buy a DEF truck?
