I have been terminated due to safety reason - loss of control.
I hit ice and slid hard into a ditch. Relatively minor damage, bumper torn off, some frame damage. Trailer was empty.
It was my first preventable accident ever. 2.5 years driving.
Company policy is termination for any loss of control.
I'm not posting this to discuss if i should have been fired. I am just looking for info on my chances of finding another job.
It is my understanding that I probably won't find a trucking job for at least a year now. Most applications I have read say you can't be considered if terminated due to safety, but is that just for a year, 3 years, forever?
This is my first preventable and my record is pretty clean. One speeding ticket June 2015, only other things are hitting a deer, and another driver hit me and they were at fault - not a preventable for me.

These are pretty tough odds in the eyes of safety! Did all of this happen during your 2.5 years of driving trucks?Bo Hunt, Crude Truckin', icsheeple and 2 others Thank this. -
Submit plenty of applications and something will hit. Remember, what the trucking companies website has, and what they actually do, are two different things. Do some online apps. and follow with a phone call. Check Craigslist also; many drivers in your situation found driving jobs on Craigslist.

There is always a company and you most likely will not like the company. With that said if you really want to continue driving you will do what you have to,
