When I asked the cop if he was on 9 he looked at me like I had 2 heads... had not a single clue what I was talking about. I f it wasent for that bus driver idk how long I woulda been there. Sometimes a cellphone just doesn't work...

    Tried 9am usb and lsb.

Tried getting someone on 19 too. There was chatter but I couldent over power them with how far out I was. Only heard them in squelch. Was about 10 miles from the big road

I haven't had to call the police but I did have a problem one time when I missed the street I was supposed to turn on to.

My GPS rerouted me and I was following it until I came to an intersection.
It was a pretty tight turn that I wasn't sure I could make, so I sat there thinking about the situation.
Next thing I know a cop car pulls up in front of my truck and the officer comes to my door.
He tells me that while I 'might' make that turn, I was over length for the road because of the very tight curves on the 2 lane road. Also, making a u-turn in the intersection was not advised considering the traffic (rush hour) and the tight quarters - and he was not going to stop all lanes of traffic to do so, since other trucks have tried that u-turn without success.
Then he says... "Do what you think is best", and moved his car out of my way.

    Oh my...

My only option was to make the right turn and let the chips fall.

I did make the turn when I had a decent opening in traffic to take all lanes, and I slowly made those tight turns without incident, finally getting to my destination.
And really surprised that the officer didn't follow me and give me a ticket along the way.

In over 6 years OTR I have not have a bad experience with the police or DOT. They have always been more helpful and understanding than not.

I agree with most drivers posts. The police have always been helpful when called to be proactive, rather than after an incident and be reactive.
All the calls I have made were with OD permitted routes. Usually a narrow construction route and had to find a reroute.

    Shame on you!

Think of the 10s of millions of lives you could have saved if only you'd had a CB in your cruiser!

Had to call the police in Gig Harbor, WA because I missed the turn into the driveway to the shopping center I was delivering to. I looked on Google Maps and thought I could go down to the next street and go right back to the freeway--only some genius decided that putting a roundabout that is too small for trucks to get around would be a good idea (no warning signs ahead of it).

The officer that showed up was very friendly and stopped traffic so I could drive the opposite way through the roundabout over curbs to make my turn.
