Hey everyone, I know this probably gets asked a lot, but I'm wondering about the reliability and fuel mileage out of the ACERT's. I currently own a used 2012 MX and there are some things I like and hate about it. I'very had some problems with it and as soon as I can I'm looking to get rid of it. I'd prefer a 6nz but unfortunately they are very hard to come by.

So long story short, here are the questions.
    How reliable are the ACERT'S?
    Do they hate Idling?
What's the Ideal Idle rpm for them?
Any Mods I should consider immediately?
Pulling 80k reefer at 60-65mph what kind of fuel mileage should be expected? (379 Pete or KW w900)
Also best gear ratio, and rubber size suggestions?

    Thanks ahead of time everyone.

Some hate them.. but they're fine .

Very reliable, they don't hate idling. Just stay away from the sdp...

If you buy one have the overhead done by a knowledgeable cat guy and make sure you have the updated studs.... (some still do not)

I'm assuming SDP is an engine serial #?

It's the series (years kinda) that the engine was built.....

The serial #s always follow that...

Sdp 09xxx or 6NZ xxxxx ...etc

I have a 06 W900L day cab with a MXS. It has a PDI tune and manifold. With 3:55 gears and tall 24.5s if I get less than 6 mpgs I'm looking for the reason.
Cruising rpms need to be less than 1450. You get to 1500 or higher the mileage jumps off a cliff. Also idling does seem to hurt more than some of the other trucks I have.

    Steve,
Here is a thread not to long ago that other drivers commented on their acerts.

Seems to me over the years on this forum people either love them or hate them. I wouldn't be scared of them one bit, however prob stay away from the sdp serial, that is the year they started the emissions and weren't very good from what I read.

I have MXS acert in a 379 Pete with 18 speed, 3:55 with tall rubber, pulling 105,500 lbs, but I'm hauling from a farm to elevators and get anywhere from 4.5-5.5 mpg.

2ws, 1mm, 7cz, 6nz, mbn, bxs, mxs, nxs these are the serial# prefixes I would look for. And in that order of preference.

I swapped that pos MX-13 for an Acert. Nothing too crazy, I wanted a million mile engine with good economy. Im getting 10% better fuel milage than I did with the Paccar and 671 HP (2613 pounds of torque) to the ground. 20K miles so far with zero problems. I would absolutely recommend ditching your Paccar and putting an Acert in your truck ASAP. Screen Shot 2017-05-01 at 4.10.43 AM.png
