Never to late to learn something....
We put a driver in a day cab while once again the dealer is trying to find the regen problem with his sleeper truck (thank you MR. EPA for that never ending "Check Engine Light" ). The dispatcher hunts down a room for the driver and gets him all setup. When he turned in his paperwork the room is much less than that quoted. Seems if you are a CDL holder it dropped the rate by almost 40%. I understand from the driver most of the national chains will offer this discount but you do have to ask for it.
Never heard that one but the paperwork is proof it works.
Motel discount for CDL?

Which chain offered 40%? Spill the beans. The most I've gotten is 20 and it's usually 15.

There are several motel companies that offer discounts to truckers if the company uses the motel chain on an ongoing basis. Most of our drivers are back in the yard every night but when they're not we want them rested for the next day.
We use Best Western quite a bit and if the reservation is made 24 hours in advance we save quite a bit of money. The actual amount varies from place to place but it's at least 25%.Naptown Thanks this. -
Places next to truck stops usually offer good discounts.

Yep.
Trucking companies have nice corporate discounts.
I've compiled quite the list of codes from swapping from other drivers. Some require an easily forged document but a lot if your hotels are easy pies booked online.
Kroger drivers have excellent deals for Drury its 50% off. Probably the best hotel deal. I like Drury because free soda popcorn & two meals come with it.tallmon Thanks this. -

Sometimes it isn't exclusively (or even referred to at all) as a "CDL discount", but rather their "business rate" that they give to pretty much anybody traveling for business.
Always ask. Worst thing they can do is say "No, we don't have anything like that." -
Places next to truckstops AND motels that cater to truck repair shops. The voing rate is usually in the range of $50/night. If I have to sit for over 24 hours, I sit in a motel. If I was on some big project where I ran local in a certain area, some times the motel would give my drivers an unbelievable rate. Like $600/ month! Sign me up!
If I have a piloted load, and my pilot car gets a good rate, I will have the pilot get me a room too for an overnight. -
Special rate for mixer pilots.
Twice as much as everyone else. -
That's the one I've been using for about 10 years-ish.crb Thanks this.
