That's why training and experience are way more effective than safety devices or a bunch of out-of-touch regulations created by a bunch of out-of-touch legislators from yet another alphabet agency. The government has tried all this and it still isn't preventing wrecks like these; but, for some reason having nothing to do with logic, their response is to double down on all this stuff which already isn't working to begin with.

If there's anyplace that needs to have the swamp drained, it's got to be the trucking industry...

No matter how many electronics you have trying to be safe, 1 thing will always stand true. And it is written clearly in my old tractor repair manual from 1948. Maybe going back to the simple things would be beneficial? Be safe out there.

They were also wanting the minimum age for CDL to be dropped to 18.

I began driving a semi in 1980, and I still have a lot to learn! Maybe I'm just a slow learner.

Started driving family trucks with 2 speed differentials (electric / vacuum) in 1983. 1987 I crawled in the cab over a K100, no school or training and never looked back. Like yourself I'm still learning, that includes doing 95+% of all my own mechanic work, still learning lol. Be safe out there.

P.S. Although I have had bruised organs, a right lung that was busted, and scars down both sides of my mouth, all as a passenger in a vehicle during 4 seperate wrecks, I'm very fortunate to have never had an accident while in control of a vehicle. That's in over 30 years, now to knock on wood :).

I think I'd be rethinking who all I'm allowing to drive while I'm in the vehicle...

I did :D... Lost my front teeth, and got both sides of my mouth cut down in 1973, all because a 19 yr old girl pulled out in front of us. A dent big as your fist was left in the dash of that 66 chevy pickup, from my face. Last bad wreck busted my right lung, I was the passenger in the back of a 4 door chevy Chevette that was T-boned in my door at full speed by a GMC van. That was in 1984. Since then I watch who I ride with ;).
