The trucking companies that offer you training pay you lower wages to pay the school back. Then if you leave before the school is paid back the company will treat you as a bad debt and go after you. If you're stuck and have no money then you're at a point where their program might fit into your needs. Just be aware that you are not getting any great deal.

Contract Freighters Inc. pays for private cdl school.
Those 6 private lessons won't help you find a job. -
I was at "that" school for a little while and did half of the 6-week class. Did my first two weeks in the classroom. The first week out in the field was a mess. There were 6 of us, and it was only 4 hours a day for us all to try and get practice and drive time. Not possible. My regret now is that I left the school. It was paid for by the state too. But, I have not given up just yet. And I still have my MA CDL Class B license as well. I have previous experience driving coach buses myself. Would be nice to get the A though so I can do OTR. The RIGHT TRAINERS make all of the difference in the world. What I found out recently is that even though I live in MA, I can jump over to RI, and go to a school out there, with great, patient trainers and instructors with no time limits on how fast you have to obtain your Class A. I do not know about yourself, but I can appreciate some patience if I have never touched a truck with a 10-speed manual transmission before and have never shifted. So, you can always consider to take the test in RI, and just transfer it back to MA with no penalty or what have you. If State Troopers intimidate you or if you would rather pass the test the first time rather than getting caught up in the political racket of having to pay out money and retest and retest and retest again, it is an option for you. Just my own suggestion. MA is the hardest or one of the hardest states to obtain a Class A CDL license in. And for no other reason than just to bust chops. Even the instructors told our class this. Not just something that I am making up myself.
Good luck and if you want that school name, feel free to PM me.
