Adding a fuel filter to 3406E

    I replaced the Do Not Remove cup with a tall Cat filter, truck already has a Davco any fuel delivery issues running both on a 3406E 97 vintage?

    Im assuming your davco has a 7 micron filter if that was the only filter.

    If you want to go back to a cat filter then you need to put a 50 micron in the davco.

    No issues. I assume that if it only had a Davco, it was a 7 or even a 2 micron filter. Run the Cat secondary and up the Davco. You'll get no benefit running the same or larger micron secondary.

    Davco has a Carquest 86651xe allegedly made by Wix (33651XE) 5 micron

    Secondary is a Cat 1R-0749 2 Micron is what I saw published for this one.

    To restrictive for the pump?

    You dont need a 5 micron filter in the davco if your running a 2 micron on the engine.

    The davco is there to just get water and big particular out now. Put a 50 mic in the davco. Less restriction that way.
    Youll prob only have to change it once a year like that . If you keep the 5 mic in the davco you will be changing it a lot more often.

    Ok got it, I purchased a dozen of the 86651xe, was a Carquest going to Advance store closing sale. Was a good deal...
