I know this is an older post but that's a beautiful truck! If I was to have my own it would be pretty close to that.

Yesterday we started gutting the bunk interior to get ready for the cutting process. The mice didn't miss one square inch of area behind that upholstery, so I have to completely gut it or I'll be some sorry. The stuff we pulled out put a HURT on my nose, LOL.

This is a good thing to me though. As I tend to like to bend rules, take chances and think outside the box a bit...I think this is the perfect opportunity for me to do some nice custom work in that room. I am thinking of having my carpenter buddy who's doing the new plywood floor for it do his magic in there and insulating it and getting "creative" with the interior with some different wall covering such as paneling or something, build the right size and height shelves where they belong, and install a nice little stainless steel hand washing sink in the right front corner with a water tank and a cute little tank/pump so I can wash my face and whatnot in the morning. I always wanted that anyways, so now's the time.

Hit it hard Tuesday 2-14-17...as I am changing all the tender old Aeroquip hose to nylon from the foot valve back, I got two other guys banging away with me on other projects...that makes things go a LOT quicker I'll tell you...

So yesterday (2-14-17) I turned my carpenter buddy Andy loose inside the bunk. After he finished the new floorboard job (awesome outcome too,) I said "have I got a nice winter inside project for you Andy...think of this as another interior remodeling job in somebody's house." He was all for it, inside a nice, warm garage. He pulled the rest of the mouse pee-soaked upholstery down and got to bare aluminum, where we decided to get a bit creative. Instead of going with new, expensive OEM interior upholstery again, we decided to go with that textured fiberglass wall board seen in milking parlors, bathrooms, sanitary places that require sterilization. We'll insulate first of course. It's easy to work with, has that H channel that joins the joints neatly...and will be brighter inside the bunk now with lighting, always a problem to me before.

Going to build custom shelving at the end. The other ones couldn't be put back with this big Unibilt hole anyway...plus they were ruined from mouse infestation.

I removed the old heater unit underneath the mattress panel, and will utilize that area for storage now. I am having Andy build me a plywood hatch on hinges, so I can open up that hatch (mattress and all... same thing factory Freightliners have,) to access that storage area. Now that the heater~a/c unit is gone, there's a LOT of room in there. We also cut the drivers side compartment divider out so now there's ample room when you open that side compartment door.

A little twist to things here, but I feel like it's the right direction to go for practicality. Not looking to impress the Chrome Shop Mafia gang with customized tribal striped upholstery and 1000 watt stereo sound...just making it what I want it to be...functional, clean, bright and usable.

Put fuel tanks in their proper positions, and put step box under passenger side door. Took that fuel tank out from under it...

I was hoping that the shelves might be okay and just be able to move the seat back. That's a bummer

Before you lose all hope though, keep in mind that if you want to, you CAN keep the upper shelves/cubby space up top, and if you get low-back seats you should be able to keep at least the two higher shelves but will have to cut the lowest ones for the seats to clear back that far. It's going to be a little more interesting with mine being an A cab, they're a lot smaller than a B.

Here's an album of pics of the new Aussie K200 cabover. It's used mainly for B Trains on the East Coast where there are restrictions on overall length which is 26 meters or just over 85'. B Trains are the most common interstate truck on the Eastern Seaboard.
Roadtrains are the most common truck in the northern part of the country and they are mainly conventionals.
The K200 has got an almost flat floor and is nothing like the old K100s. They are comfortable, more like the Euro cabovers as far as comfort goes, but with American truck durability and bigger sleepers. And they look heaps better than Euro trucks.
