Howdy folks, I have couple questions about steel hauling heavy. I've been steelhauling/trucking for 10 years and the boss man ordered a new bigger bubba tri axle Reitnour last week. It's one with the three axles grouped together and I'm wondering what's the legal limit as far as loading it. I'm open to any ideas, thoughts and advice. Thanks

Quick search says 51,000 on the tridem.

Ohio is 48,000 on state routes 45,000 on federal but still 80,000 gross for normal loads.

Are you using an annual permit for these moves? That might change the answers to your question.

What can you get in an annual in Wisconsin?4mer trucker Thanks this.

I think Kentucky does the annual permits up to 120,000 gross , not sure about indiana. But I just run Indiana, Kentucky and some Ohio and Tennessee. So would the gross weight of the tri axle change if the third axle was in the middle middle of the trailer vs tridem?

My annual I can have up to 20,000 up front, 20,000 on the pusher, 50,000 on the drives and 20,000 an axle on the trailer for a gross of 170,000. I just had a above annual permit last week that was 13,000 on the steers, 27,000 each for pusher and drives, and 22,000 for each trailer axle.Steelhauler1246 and Ruthless Thank this.

I assume that it would depend on the spread. In theory it would be 54,000 (20,000 for the one by itself and 34,000 for the other tandem).Steelhauler1246 and johndeere4020 Thank this.

Interesting, can you get the 27,000 on the trailer to if you want? Ohio doesn't do blanket annuals for weight. And we're limited to 20,000 per axle on a tri or quad and 25,000 per axle on a tandem.snowman_w900, G13Tomcat and Steelhauler1246 Thank this.

I am not sure how much you can ask for, but I don't see any reason why they wouldn't. Minnesota will give you 60,000 for a tridem, but as soon as you go quad on a trailer they only give you 18,000 an axle.
