... If he was pulling a different trailer, would he have not crashed off the road?

Devils advocate here: that doesn't sound like a reasonable explanation for why not to pull a tank.

That's food grade, and is a very different animal due to not having any baffles. One must take care when pulling a smooth bore. Sounds like your wife's cousin did not...

My understanding is he reached for his cigarettes taking his eyes off the road and his front steer went off a deep shoulder he over corrected and the trailer pulled him over into the creek below. I've tried finding out the specifics but no one from that side of them family will talk about it

I am also retired USAF - 29 years. Do you have any GI Bill eligibility left? I used my Post 9/11 GI Bill to go to a very good commercial trucking school. If you do have any eligibility left - make sure you start out with a company that has the Veteran's OJT Apprenticeship Program manged through the Veteran's Administration and Department of Labor. You will be paid additional money through this program in addition to whatever salary you earn driving. This money is 100% tax free because it is based in BAS/BAH rates which are non-taxable. This is FREE MONEY since the funding for this program comes from the Federal Government - NOT from your trucking company so it costs them nothing. Here is a list of some companies that have jumped through paperwork beauracracy to setup an OJT Program:

    Werner (24 mos)
    Roehl (24 mos)
    TMC (24 mos)
Crete Carrier / Schaffer (12 mos)
    H.O. Wolding (12 mos)
    Jim Palmer (15 mos)
    Stevens (24 mos)
    Melton (12 mos)

The above is a partial list but this is an amazing benefit.

    Good luck to you
