Why Chinese and not East European?I don't know how to post link yet on my new phone but look up Wielton SA.They claim their trailers frames are built from S700 steel (don't know what that means but must be good I guess) and the USD/PLN rate is great at the moment.

From what I've seen, they come with a data plate that tells capacity, axle ratings, and whatnot. If the data plate is true and certified by a engineer is anybody's guess.

There are all kinds of trailer factories in China, some that seem decent and some that produce junk.

When I was looking, what I did was got a list of people from the manufacturer that had bought the trailer in question. I talked to a couple of people here in the states that had bought the trailer I was looking at. They seemed satisfied so that made me feel a little better.

How do i know they are strong?
Because i have seen them in action.
Seen the abuse they are subjected too.

But to be clear ,i would not buy a chinese trailer for variety off reasons.

I do buy other things in china.
It takes a little effort to some research but price/quality it is sometimes worth it.
Part off the reason i buy direct in china is that i was tired off paying premium prices for some things only to find out it was made in china.

I agree completely that Chinese companies can make great quality. I also agree completely that Chinese companies can't be trusted to make great quality.

They can make things that look and feel right, but will often give you a great price knowing that they are going to substitute substandard materials from a high school buddy that has a materials factory a few miles away.

You may even spend a week at the factory prior to production start up, carefully reviewing production procedure. You will get the full support of the factory manager, who will make a big show of barking at production supervisors in the conference room. But privately as you are demonstrating the proper use of cutting die matrix to the cutting department, one supervisor will have the balls to tell you he is 110% on board with everything you want, but when you leave the matrix is going into the trash bin and they will be required by the owner to go back to hand cutting counter dies. Your hired agent won't help you because he already has been compromised.

It isn't just China. It's any country that's high on the list of corrupt countries. I remember having a drink in the lounge of the executive floor of the Hilton Hotel in Seoul a couple of decades ago. I got to talking with a fellow American. He was living in the Hilton on a six month project. His job was to check the quality of every load of cement coming into a major construction site. The builder didn't trust Korean companies, so he hired an American company and insisted on American subcontractors and quality control.

First day on the construction site he checked the first load of concrete. It was badly out of spec. He sent the driver away. Ten minutes later the same truck pulls in, apparently after driving around the block. He was rejected again. An hour later a Mercedes Benz pulls in with all the top brass of the concrete supplier. They begged him to accept the quality. When they realized he couldn't be bought or swayed, they appealed to his sympathy by telling him they bid low thinking they could substitute inferior concrete like normal and they would lose money if they had to deliver the spec required in the contract. The American pulled out his cell phone and told those executives he would have to cancel the contract if they couldn't deliver and made to start dialing the phone number of the second place bid.

"Oh! No, no, no, no! We will deliver the concrete you requested!"

After that every load was perfect.

    For a week.

Then they started to try and sneak in a load or two of the bad stuff, testing him. That continued until he called the executives to the job site and pointed out that X attempts to deliver concrete out of spec would result in a big financial penalty. It was in the contract and they were close to losing the remainder of the contract. Every load after that was perfect.

Lepton,as we both know there are a lot off people who are willing to lie/cheat to get rich.
(I doubt that in the haydays off the mob all concrete poured was top quality)

God you guys. You think things improved a lot that you can just order it from Alibabi?

Look I will be frank with you, if you want good quality Chinese ANYTHING, there are a number of steps you take to get it. The first thing is you have to VISIT the factory or have someone YOU TRUST visit it. Then every frinkn' step of the way you have to watch them, from the material intake to the end product ready to ship.

A VISIT is important to them as much as it to you.

What the first one will look like will not be what the second one looks like. This isn't like branded electronics where they just slap a name on it and then stick it in a box.

What happens if the thing is made, shipped and it gets here with too thin of rails that it won't pass DOT?

Guess who owns a few thousands pounds of scrap. You do.

Majority of these multi-million dollar boats, with the exception of the 40, are built in China and they are built nice. Got to tour one in Miami last year and both my father and I was impressed with the quality.

To put it in a nice way ,Wielton still needs to develop it's products futher.
While they have moved forward, still not a quality product.

At this point in time ,for a "normal" trailer build in Europe ,best price to quality ratio i would suggest Vanhool.
    Yup the busbuilder.
    Also has a big trailerfactory.
In fact if i was thinking off doing regional flatbed work in the USA i would buy a curtainside with open roof from them.
That would save a lot off time when running against the 14 hour clock.
