It was great to meet you too! I hope the rest of your trip went well! Today was a BLAST, I LOVED finally getting behind the wheel! Thanks again, and I hope to see you again in the near future!

I am putting up the white flag. I surrender. Atlanta kicked my butt today. I had to go around Atlanta 3 times today. I went from Cartersville to Fairburn. Then from Fairburn back to Cartersville. Then from Cartersville to Valdosta. The first trip wasn't completely horrible. But it was dark and raining. The second trip had 3 accidents on 285. It took 2 hours to go about 60 miles. The third trip.....4 accidents and who knows how much wasted time. Seven accidents on one road. SEVEN! It confirms what I've always known. Atlanta is an abortion gone horribly wrong when it comes to traffic. My camera went off more today than in an entire normal week, and it's just plain unavoidable. It is what it is. Whatever. So, I finished my Valdosta load, and I'm now sitting in a truck stop close to the final. I had a little time left but they didn't have any empty trailers, so I'll most likely have to jet up to Albany before my next run. Couldn't make it there with the time I had left, so I'll have to do it in the morning. And from there....home. The load I'm picking up is due on Monday as I mentioned in my previous post. I know a guy that works there, at least he did the last time I saw him. Gonna call him tomorrow and see if I can drop that load on Friday. If not, no biggie, but it never hurts to ask. Gotta love knowing a guy on the inside. I am soooo ready for home. I like the long stretches out, but I think 4 or 5 weeks is pretty much my limit. 7 is about 1 foot too far past the limit. It was by choice, but hopefully I won't need to do that again. Hope you all had an awesome day. As always, I'll check back in tomorrow. Until then, peace y'all.

This will be my favorite post so far, and it will be hard to surpass it. I could have guaranteed my arrival at home tomorrow, but it would have required paying for a parking spot, and just having an average run-of-the-mill night at a truck stop. Or...I could stay at Cartersville and arrive home early Saturday morning. By the time I broke the mileage barrier that guaranteed I'd make it home it would have been scarce parking and sub-par surroundings. There's a chance I can still get home tomorrow if everything goes right. But I wouldn't trade it for the night I just had. I hung out with @FalconsFan21 and his roommate and had an awesome time. I haven't met 2 people filled with so much positivity and kindness in a long time. No doubt in my mind that they'll end up in a Millis truck of their own. Fantastic food and conversation, I thank you both. I'll post tomorrow about today's run. Nothing much to report anyhow, fairly typical day. Guys, I really hope we get to hang out again, because that made my decision for my path home worth every second. I meant what I said...if you need me call me. I got your backs

Thanks so much for your decision @Steelersjunkie !! It was a wonderful evening getting to hang out with you and enjoy some great food & conversation!! It was wonderful to get to spend some time with the person that is the reason I'm where I am right now and get to pick your brain and also just connect as fellow drivers & friends! I hope your night is great and your drive home safe & smooth! Til the next time!!

And there MUST be a next time
You guys are going to do just fine, guaranteed. And you'll both make great additions to this company.
Shock Therapy and FalconsFan21 Thank this. -
Where are you guys going to cdl school at? I'm still looking at cdl I just have to pass my dot med card and stat the permit testing. I wish I'd stuck through this back in 2005 there's no doubt I'd have my cdl. How often do you get to go home? Just curious
-
How often you go home will ultimately be up to you. And it'll depend on whether you are OTR or regional. Typically the regional guys get home more often than OTR. I'm OTR, and usually get home every 5-6 weeks. Some stay out less, some stay out more. Just depends on the individual.

How many days do they give you at home after 5 or 6 weeks out?
