Taking a low paying job, with a higher hp truck.

Born and raised there. Moved West 6 years ago.

 

Whatever floats your boat i guess lol my current truck goes 67 but it's a pain at times dealing with people that speed up at the last second. my last job i went 63 and enjoyed everyone passing me lol

 

After awhile 70-80 will be the new 62.

 

Don't know about a t680,but to answer your question, Private carriers... Wal-Mart, hobby lobby, anyplace that hauls it's own product for there own stores.. I myself drive for hobby lobby stores. Although I have been here for just a very short time,after 26 years out here I have found the last driving job I will ever have. Word of advice get away from the traditional trucking jobs,STAY very very far away from O/O 1099 gigs they always wind up in disaster. Maybe not all but for the most part. And I'm not trying to bust your balls ok? But man speed is not everything yes I know it sucks doing 62- 65 all day. Believe me that 75- 80 MPH truck by days end, I don't care what part of the country you run in, the best (AT DAYS END) you are going to do ,I don't care if you run 80 MPH. Traffic flow, accidents, morning/afternoon traffic, construction, you name it @ days end at best 67mph average is the best you will do on average. Guess what? My truck runs 70 when I get behind the wheel at the start of my shift,(running team) 12 hour shifts I don't stop for NOTHING!!! other than the stupid 30 minute break. Again NOTHING. And at the end of my shift 680 miles average @ best. I just left a company 65mph truck ran the Same way didn't stop for anything 630 miles a day (on average) with traffic,construction and all was a good day. So I ask you this. For 50 extra lousy miles one truck to another was a truck that can do 5 more MPH really worth the headache? Never mind about getting stuck behind other 62- 65 MPH trucks I understand that part. Believe me I understand that part. But in the big picture I swear to you on everything sacred to me you will not make any more $$$$ driving a faster truck in fact unless you have self control you will make less. Tickets, road side inspections because your boss has a crappy Saftey score equals down time equals not making money, I could go on and on but like most new breeds your not going to heed sound advice so go drive your fast truck there fireball come back in 6 months to a year and be 100 percent honest with everything and let us know how it's going in your large car super trucker. Oh I forgot you don't care about making money.... you just like driving..... LOL RITFL

 

I don't know. If you're very disciplined, and don't exceed the speed limit (no matter where you are) and can run the higher speed limits where they exist, and you spend a lot of time in those areas (TX, NM, AZ, UT, ID, etc) and all things being equal. 10.5 hours running an additional 5-15 miles every hour, is a noticeable change in production [and income] for that day or week. But outside of the 70 and 75+ MPH states, it's probably not going to mean much, and if it does, then the included tickets are going to be a real problem for the driver, and the job won't last long.

The higher fuel burn rates is going to be an issue FOR SOMEBODY. Is the truck owner paying you less to cover his higher fuel costs? I don't know. Ask him.

You know what I like....a truck that can roll "up" grades 45-50 mph loaded net 70k.
