the best real world economy for OTR are coming from freightliners...which I dislike, Volvo 630/670, t660/680 or the pete 579/587 with auto transmissions... hate autos too... but we have to think like a business... make decisions on bottom line decisions not a factor of "cool"

That doesn't mean I would or wouldn't own any of those trucks... that's just what the real world numbers are... Obviously they all have to be specd right... but some of these trucks are reaching double what the old 379s are getting... and that's a fact jack. you take a poor specd 13 spd big cam pete with 4:35s vs a lean dd15 with 2.64 gears and auto trans... the math gets pretty easy.

Pretty sure my 150-200k miles still count even tho they are 12-15 years old now

What? The only time my 12.7 is over 1500 is if I'm trying to grab the next higher gear. Cruising at 1225 right now with an average of 9.8 on the day. Had 46k lbs on the deck this morning.

a 379 wouldn't get 9.8 with a empty and tail wind going 57 mph... with the leanest specs... thanks for proving a point...

Neither does this one average that. Picking a perfect scenario fuel mileage day and using it as a standard is just stupid. Take a 379 specced exactly as this truck and today's trip and it would of gotten almost the same. Maybe .3 less.

Lot more goes into it than aerodynamics. Take that 579 with an emissions choked engine and put it next to a 379 running a pre emmisions 12.7 with same gearing and tires running the same load and that 379 might even get better fuel economy.

Well considering the wrong information you keep spouting out that guy that doesn't know Jack and knows he doesn't know Jack is better off. He is a blank canvas that can be filled with accurate info. Your canvas is filled with #########.
