Well thanks. That just gives me an excuse to post pictures and think back to better days back when my truck didn't need a paint job like it does now. Lol. It still cleans up ok though.
this pic was a couple of years ago when I got my new van
this was last July my first reefer load. The quarter fender had fallen off a few weeks earlier. Old trucks lol.
this was about 5-1/2 years ago it looked really good then. Still had those worthless centramatics on it back then.
this was a bumper crop of corn in the fall of 2011. That was some very good money and I enjoyed the work. Never did do any more hopper work after that though.
Not really the most aerodynamic truck but it gets the job done reliably. I've put plenty of $2 a gallon fuel in the tanks and put plenty of $4.50 a gallon fuel in the tanks. I always run about 70-75mph cruising speed regardless of the price of fuel and I've always made a comfortable living doing it. Fuel is a cost that gets covered by the rate....

Yes thats were the frieght is at all year around! Cali freight keep me moving, keeps truck payments paid and keeps money in my pocket!
-
You can have it. All of it. There's plenty of year round freight in the other 47 states but I only need about a dozen or so to keep me happy.
longbedGTs, Oxbow, exhausted379 and 3 others Thank this. -
Most frieght that goes to other states like ocean container & Dry freight, and produce comes out of California. Don't believe me. Set a rest area on I-40 either in CA, AZ, OR NM and watch the trucks run as a train ( 5-8 truck running bumper to bumper) going east!
-
You think that is heavy and bad turning radius? You should try a W900.spyder7723 Thanks this.

Words to live by.

Yeah there are no other ports on either coast. No one else even bothers to grow any crops either. They are only running bumper to bumper because they are governed within 1/4 mph of each other.Oxbow, Roger McG, BoostedTeg and 2 others Thank this.

Yes, I watch some of these guys trying to back into a dock next to me from the street in downtown Los Angeles or south Chicago. A lot of these guy in 379s & W900s have hell of a time trying backup in some these tight docks!

Theres really nothing unique or special about CA freight. I live in TN. It's a crossroads of main east and west lanes plus north and south lanes. Chicago to Miami. Southern Cali to the NE. Just a couple not the only ones by any means. Lots of freight routes through here or originates or destinates here and surrounding states. The midwest. It's not for nothing they call Memphis the distribution center of America. They have a big port too. No reason for anyone who lives in the eastern half of the US to ever truck to CA for a living if they don't want to. Plenty of good work elsewhere without all the high costs and unecessary regs.Chasingthesky, Oxbow, Loose Leaf and 3 others Thank this.
