I work at US Foods Chicago we have new guys making just over $100000 a year, the overtime is there if you want it or not!
What can a rookie in food service expect to make in their first year?

Son-in-law works for McLane, delivers to all 5 boroughs in NYC, all night work, has a company supplied helper, I think twice a year he can bid on another route, no lift gate, he made $100,000 in 2016.
Switcher Thanks this. -
Now THATS some decision changing crap right there!
-
I was looking at their website and they didn't have any openings listed, is that normal? I don't have my CDL yet just trying to get an idea of what companies I'll apply to. Also are you guys driving 53' trailers through Chicago? The thought of those tight turns terrify me.
-
That's trucking buddy. Putting 53 footers in places they aren't supposed to go. Wanna be local? Everyone wants to be local instead of OTR but it's hard work. Traffic, city streets, blind side backing, 16 on 10 off, weird hours. But hey, I love it. I'll take my wife in bed over that sleeper berth any day!
Bob Dobalina, lagbrosdetmi, Switcher and 2 others Thank this. -
Maybe I should try to get a job there. McLane doesn't have liftgates.

Yeah, I remember that. It's definitely an exception, though.
