What engine is in it currently?

I'm goingo out on a limb and say he's got a 3406e.

Yup just a little more info there bud.
You've only narrowed it down to a peterbuilt between 1978 to 1999.
Lolsnowman_w900, RDTrucking, Crude Truckin' and 4 others Thank this. -
I'm interested to hear why he wants to take out the 3406. Of all the engines to swap for a 6nz, that would be the last one I chose....unless it's beyond repairLast edited: Mar 7, 2017

Why is that, rank? Is it easier to up-rate a mechanical motor?
-
I'd say it's easier because you don't need a computer. But that's not why I'd keep the B model. Just think there's better ways to spend a boat load of money than swapping out one of the best engines ever built. Not really sure what will be gained. Fewer oil leaks maybe?

Power, reliability, fuel mileage with proper programming.
Bean Jr. Thanks this. -
I get it but why not just buy a factory 6NZ truck and save the work? Only reason I can think of is it's a 99 model year and the 3406 is junk.Bean Jr. Thanks this.
