A vulture flew into my headlight and broke the moulded plastic mounts. Tie wire is keeping me running and making money until I get home. Zip ties wouldn't have helped at all.

TRUE!I was shown this trick a week ago when "my truck" didn't want to start.Problem was, solenoid in "my" truck is at bottom of engine bay, underneath the starter. Not very accessible.

Take a steel rod and tap it a few times, this works as well.
-
I tried, didn't work.Had to call TA service.Service guy showed me where solenoid is but it was rusted and broken basically in a half.

Oh,I remember I once used my trousers belt to keep one of those things behind the cab (winglet???) from flying away on an interstate.Didn't have zip ties, string or anything else but it worked fine until I made it back to Chicago 4 days later. That's what we call East European roadside repair.LOL
