I think I p*ss*d off the new drivers?
They don't know what loose leafs are yet alone the difference between old or new school lol I guess they can't figure out how to vote without dispatchers approval.

When I got my CDL (over 20 years ago now...... dang I'm gettin' old) you had to know how to log. Apparently that's not the case anymore. We've had more than one driver apply here that looked at our stack of log sheets like he'd never seen one before. What exactly are they teaching them in these CDL mills everyone seems to go to these days?

I have done it both ways. Both logs have some advantages, and they both have disadvantages.
I'd have to say it really depends on what kind of trucking you do and where you run.

Is it the '62 rules that everyone talks about as the 'old rules'?

Problem with having no rules the owners/dispatchers would have unrealistic expectations. Not everyone can drive 15 hours a day. How do you set average appointment times when every driver runs differently. I think 14 hours a day max but let me drive as much as I want during that time. Keep the 30 minute break and elogs

If we're going by '62 rules, I prefer that as there have been many instances when I would've preferred to roll after 8 consecutive hours off.

And paper logs. It's how I started and what I use now.

I've worked for outfits with elogs and find it too restrictive. Although I can see scumbag outfits exploiting drivers if they go back to loose-leaf.

O/Os and experienced drivers who don't need their hands held should keep the option to stay paper.

Get rid of the 70 hour rule entirely. Give us 14 hours a day, 11 of which to drive, drop the 1/2 mandatory break. End of story.

Why not let a guy work 15 hours a day? if he can safely do so and that's what he wants to do.
