Just looking for a list of companies operating in the oil patch in Texas that will reimburse tuition costs for CDL A certification once I'm done with school.
Going to go through a company sponsored program but don't plan on doing OTR whatsoever once I'm done.
Prefer companies operating out of the San Antonio area or somewhere close by.

If your planning on attending a company paid school and the quitting, watch what you are signing. Often those loans will come due in their entirety once you quit so tuition reimbursement won't stop it from Jacking your credit. If your credit is already jacked, it won't really matter.
Stevens has a tanker division, maybe try them for the school and getting started in the oil fields and then find where you want to jump ship too. -
Just saw your second thread here. What are you trying to accomplish? Do you just need the cdl without the accredited hours and all that stuff? They have those one day CDL deals, cost like 300 to 500 hundred. You will get your permit and then they will teach you the pretrip and have you tested all in one day. Over the road companies will NOT accept it as a proper school if that is your intention

Stevens Transport in Dallas has oil field tankers and their own cdl school.
FFE (Frozen Food Express) also has oil field tankers and their own cdl school in Dallas. -
Where abouts in Texas?
Try Swift Water. I rescued one of their recent CDL graduates after they snapped the drive shaft on a 20% grade going over a cattle guard. "What's a power divider?", he said. -
my credit is already jacked lol. Stevens is the school I'm looking at. Trying to look for other companies that hire newbies

San Antonio area. Wow sounds like the Master Sergeant I let drive my LVS in Afghanistan who claimed that motor transport was his original MOS. Snapped my drive shaft then left, leaving me stuck at a grunt FOB for the next week! lolLepton1 Thanks this.

Just need it for the oil patch, have no intention of doing OTR whatsoever. How does one find one of these games one day "deals" ?

I'm in San Antonio - check out the SA craigslist. I've seen postings for what you're looking for. Some of the smaller towns around - La Vernia, Stockdale, Hondo, Floresville, etc - small trucking companies looking for drivers gearing up for the oilfields. Good luck!
DevilNutsUSMC and Lepton1 Thank this. -
I read these threads where people whine about not being able to afford this and that. I've yet to see any of them talk about working a second or third job to cover their expenses or to further themselves.
Strange concept but it works.KenworthGuyNH Thanks this.
