We have 2 with over 80,000 miles and they have been outstanding. We have 2 with about 15,000 miles each and 3 more coming soon. We have really been impressed with the power this engine puts out even at 455/1550. The fuel economy has been about 5% higher than the Series60s and ISX. I was a bit skeptical at first with all the new technology on the engine...the turbocompounding system, the common rail fuel system, and the Cascadia. Overall, they have all worked out very well.
I would not hesitate to recommend the engine from what I've experienced so far. We have had good success with both the ISX and Series 60 with EPA'07 hardware.
Crossing our fingers but DD15 looks very good so far -
to bad they not offer it to other OEM besides DimlerTrucks i realy hate how Cascadia look ,very ugly......It would be interesting to see what MPG could be obtained from t2000/387,Prostar,VN.....
Good luck with your engines! -

I can tell you the EGR has been cut waaay back on the DD15. The EGR is by far the worst thing that happend to the 60 series.

With visor, it is more beautiful.

EGR, the worst night mare to truck drivers. My friend owns 2 Freightliner trucks with Detroit Series 60 with EGR. Both reached 700,000, both went to rebuild because they have issues. I would put EGR, DPF, and/or SCR delete kit.

I agree with Dave. We have 8 2012 Cascadias with DD13s and 6 more on the way. Detroit seems to have gotten it right with the DD series of engines. Ours are in the same range for mileage. Only had a couple sensor issues at the beginning within the first 5000 miles, no bugs since.

You mean like the one I am driving?
It sucked at first with less than 5.8 mpg when i got it with 446,000 miles. Now that I am up to 462,000, it's finally doing some decent mileages over 6.4 mpg. I started to put Lucas Upper cylinder lube/injector cleaner in it and it seems to be doing much better. Even at 73K gross today coming across WI, I was able to maintain an average speed of 61 mph on a 66 mph truck. -
JDP, I know that you are a heavy hauler, but what kind of fuel mileage are you seeing? We have 7 2011 Cascadia's with the DD15 with over 200k miles, and every one of them is getting in the low 5's mpg. We are a dry van carrier that is always light and running 65mph. Last year, we bought 6 2012 KW T660 with the Paccar MX and they all are getting between 6.7 - 7.2 mpg and are spec'd the same as the Cascadia's. Needless to say, Freightliner is not real popular around here these days and Kenworth seems to truly be the best there is with these results and driver happiness.
